Folder list missing (existing) folder
That trial and error killing lines in hierarch.pm scared me.
There's aboslutely nothing to be scared about if you keep a backup, really. And deleting lines (not editing them!) will only get Pegasus Mail to recreate them if it detects folders missing in there.
I tried something else, and it worked.  I created two new folders, and then looked at the folder info for each, writing down the folder names, folnnnnn.*  Then I renamed the new ones (by adding $ to each extention), and renamed the old .pmm and .pmi folders to the new names.
The only issue with creating new folders is that filter rules applying to the old ones won't work anymore because Pegasus Mail uses their (unique) internal ID's instead of human readable names, so if there are some you should get into their editor and check for "red lines" indicating missing folders. So you see there's always a "gotcha" ...

I hope someone can help.

A folder recently disappeared from the folder listing. It happens to be the folder to which we copy our sent messages called "SENT 2009". I know that the folder is there as when I search for messages across the mailbox the folder name SENT 2009 is displayed as one of the folders that is being searched and searches return messages from that folder. It's just that the folder no longer shows in the folder listing so I can't access messages directly from the folder any longer.

I've checked FAQs and looked around the Forum but can't find the answer to this one.

Any ideas?    thanks   Carol

I wonder if your HIERARCH.PM file is in some way damaged.

Renaming it to "HIERARCH_old.PM" and allowing Pegasus to create a new one may be helpful. If you have a complicated set of folders this will destroy the way they are organised but you can re-arrange them again if the missing folder re-appears.

If this doesn't help, you can return to how you are now by deleting the newly-created "HIERARCH.PM" and rename the "_old" version back to how it was.

Alternatively, searching these forums for problems related to HIERARCH may give you some ideas.

Sharkfin - many thanks or that.Indeed that did prove to be the solution (you;ll see that I posted this some time ago and in the interim received advice to a similar effect, which did work). many thanks for responding though. I guess I better change the status of this (have just spotted that I might be able to do that).  Carol

I have peaked into my hierarch.pm, and do see reference to each of two missing folders, and the folders are present on my machine.  Yes, I could let Pegasus recreate hierarch.pm, but I have hundreds of folders and they have a complex hierarchy I would rather not have to rebuild.  Is there any other file that could prevent a folder that is present in hierarch.pm from being displayed?  (Version 4.52)

No, but why don't you give it a try to figure out whether it helps at all: Deleting two lines from hierarch.pm (using a plain text editor such as the former NotePad, no Office monster!) , spotting the folders in the main branch of the hierarchy after restarting Pegasus Mail and moving them back to their former positions shouldn't be such a deal ...? But you may also need to remove garbage lines from hierarch.pm, you'll only figure out by trial and error, so keep a backup anyway.

That trial and error killing lines in hierarch.pm scared me.  I tried something else, and it worked.  I created two new folders, and then looked at the folder info for each, writing down the folder names, folnnnnn.*  Then I renamed the new ones (by adding $ to each extention), and renamed the old .pmm and .pmi folders to the new names.  Not only did Peg. now find these, it corrected the names on my new folders.  Why this works is beyond me, mostly b/c I do not understand all the 'fields' in the hierarch.pm table.

Still, thanks for your suggestion.
