Can't edit a POP3 rule set

Thomas,

Found it !!

Thank you for your help.

The window had been manually minimized, i.e. for some reason, lost in the mists of time, I had grabbed the corner of the window and reduced it down to only the header bar. Consequently, although everything indicated the window was there , I couldn't see it.     All is well now and I can edit my filter to get rid of even more incoming spam and junk.

Thanks again. Much obliged

I have a problem with editing a POP3 rule set.   The rule set works fine and does its job - and has done for some time -  but I now need to tweak it a bit.

I can select the rule set in the Tools/Mail filtering rules/Create/edit POP3 rule set dialog box but when I click the Open button, the rule set editor does not appear.

In the  Window drop down menu, the rule set is shown as being there but selecting it ther does casue it to appear.    I can edit the set by sel;ecting the filterfile in the Pmail folder an viewing it in Notepad.

What is going on here?  Any help appreciated.

I have Pmail 4.41 (win32) on XP SP3 .  I have recently updated to SP3 and that amy be the root of the problem.

Can you create a new filtering rule set and add/edit rules? If so, that might be a workaround. I've never encountered the problem myself.

Cheers,

Steffan

Could the edit window be there but not visible?  Try 'Window / Tile' to see all current windows.

Thanks for the idea.  Tried that but got the same result i.e rule set does not show up

PaulW, thanks. The window is definitely not visible.  Tile, cascade, minimizing all visible windows - nothing !

Maybe it's this part of the state.pmj that have moved the window out of the view pane.

[RULES4]
Type1=-104,81,856,672,"80,298,128,0"
Type3=22,22,982,613,"80,206,211,0"
Type0=-4,-30,978,618,"80,206,152,0"
Type4=154,154,1136,802,"80,206,157,0"
Type2=22,22,1042,652,"80,206,128,0"

Thomas,
Thanks. Good thinking. I looked at my state.pmj file and the relevant entries were ...
[RULES4]
Type3=414,210,856,539,"80,206,128,0"
Type4=0,733,160,760,"127,288,188,0"
Type0=185,103,997,657,"80,206,186,0"
Type2=473,190,1057,519,"80,206,128,0"
Type1=541,44,983,373,"80,206,128,0"

The only one that was significantly different from your examples was Type4. I then pasted your values into state.pmj and restarted Pmail but with no luck.  I still cannot see the POP3 rule set window.
I can see the other filtering rule windows - new mail, general etc - and if I shift these windows around I see changes in the related [RULES4] entries  Type1 =new mail, Type2=Copy self .
 I'd be grateful if you have any other thoughts I could try

Make sure you are doing this with WinPMail closed.  You can just delete all of the entries in the section and you will get the defaults.
