Running 2 (or more) copies of Pegasus at the same time?

Thanks again.   This is working well.

I'm in the process of moving my mails from my 'single-user mode" install to a new account at the other install.  No need for 2 when one is good.

Hello,

Is it at all possible to run 2 copies of Pegasus at the same time?  I recently installed a second copy in c:/PMAIL1 thinking that doing so would allow me to have both open at the same time.  Seems that isn't the case.

In case there is any confusion in what I'm asking:

I have 2 copies of Pegasus installed.  One in c:/PMAIL and the other in c:/PMAIL1.  When one is running the other will not.  I'd like to have them both open at the same time.

Thanks for any help.

:)

It's possible, you can use the -MS commandline option to run multiple copies.

From the help:

-MS (no parameter)
Start multiple sessions of Pegasus Mail. Use this switch if you want a new copy of Pegasus Mail to start up when the program is run, instead of control simply being transferred to any copy that might currently be running on your system. This switch is usually only useful when combined with the -I or -U switch to specify a user. WARNING!!  This switch DOES NOT allow you to run two copies of Pegasus Mail that simultaneously access the same mailbox: all running copies of Pegasus Mail on the system must be accessing different mailboxes. If you ignore this warning and allow two copies of Pegasus Mail to access the same mailbox at the same time, then you will almost certainly end up with loss of data.

Thomas,

Thank you for your response.

But, -MS Commandline?  Since I don't understand it might be something I shouldn't attempt.

1.  Right click on the WinPMail shortcut and select "Properties".

2.  Select the "Shortcut" tab.

3.  Edit the "Target line" to add the commandline option.

A commandline option will generally look like the following:

c:\pmail\winpm-32.exe -MS

"c:\Program Files\pmail\winpm-32.exe" -MS
