I have a number of computers on a network. I have a server which handles many tasks like network drives, backups etc. I have a fixed IP address so can always if necessary remotely log in to my network for various reasons.
At present I access all my emails using Outlook from one computer which connects to the ISP directly using POP3 (inbound) and SMTP (outbound).
What I want to do is to be able to use/see my emails where ever I am in the world be it on multiple machines within my network, connected to the internet remotely (where I would like to be able to download new emails and manage emails) and also when not connected to the internet read a local copy on my laptop and when reconnected to the internet or internal to my network update the central database with my changes I made to the local copy whilst offline.
Essentially when I am travelling I need to be able to see all my emails (whilst on business) even when not connected to the internet and also this is a time when I get to manage the emails (often off line) and then I would like this to update the main email servers copy at a later date when reconnected. Also the ability to download new emails from the servers copy to the local copy whilst remote is required.
What would like to know is is this possible with Mercury and possibly Pmail, at present I use Outlook although I have no particular allegiance to any one product. I do know this is possible as I have worked at a company that allowed me to work in this way and I believe that this was using Microsoft Exchange.
The next question which I will need answering if the answer to the above is yes (and hopefully a description in general terms) on how to achieve this will be how to take my present outlook emails and put then onto the email server.
Regards
Simon
