I'm again using Pegasus after years of Thunderbird usage, so an old user but not more custom to it thus I'm a bit confused now.
I'm getting this strange problem. I've sent an email with some images. I haven't attached the images, but simply added the images in the body of the email (with the insert picture tool).
When I view the email sent, I don't see the images but just a gray area instead. Right-click Show -pictures option doesn't work either...
Any hint?
When I view the email sent, I don't see the images but just a gray areaIf you are looking at the copy self it does not contain the attachment and thus does not contain the in-line graphic that points to that attachment. If you want to see exactly what you send, including all attachments, then you'll need to use Bcc: or Cc: to see them.instead. Right-click Show -pictures option doesn't work either...
Thanks for your reply Thomas.
By the way, my apologies if the question has been already posted.
Anyhow that's sound strange to me that to view the attachments I've to send two emails, one to the recipient and one to my self as cc or bcc.

Correct, but the Bcc: does not have to go out and back if you use the local username. If you use a local username as the address it delivered locally.

As I understand it, you have an embedded image that isn't showing. I think this could be related to a problem of embedded images not displaying in received emails.
As Thomas has said, attached files, included attached images show up as a link at the bottom of the copy self email. This is normal prodecure as far as I am aware and isn't related to your problem from what I can tell.
I know this doesn't fix your problem, but the embedded images not showing is a curly one it seems.
Cheers
Is this going to be changed? It would be very useful if images were displayed in the message that is saved in the Copies To Self Folder, rather than having to remember to Cc yourself in and then manage two copies to self messages.
I don't know if it's going to become an option, but this is similar to the general discussion on saving attachments with Copy Self messages.
Pegasus Mail doesn't save attachments and doesn't save embedded images with the copies. I like it this way. The only disadvantage to me is that if I resend a message from the copy-to-self folder with an embedded image, then the image doesn't get put back automatically - you have to do it again manually.
I'm the opposite.
I use copies to self as a reference of the mail I have sent. I may refer to them after one day or after several months or even a year or more depending on the time-scale of a project.
If I have included images I don't want to have to open the network location and view the images to remind me what has been sent. Also, if that folder has been moved to a new location or the files have been renamed I may have no idea which image(s) I included.
As I understand it a message placed in copies to self is there so you have a record of the mail that has been sent. It's usefulness is considerably lessened if the message that is stored is incomplete.
I remember a thread in the wishlist forum which was either about or ended up mentioning this subject. Although I like the space-saving idea of not storing the attached files with the copy-self (it's very pure, isn't it?), it simply isn't how people use their mail systems these days. Other clients store everything and allow stupid people to fill up the mailbox quota in no time at all, but it is what they prefer.
I do see the advantages to the "save everything" approach and more importantly, as it's going to be expected by most people who see Pegasus for the first time, I think it should be an option in the program. Certainly, now that hard drive space is barely an issue any more, it's worth looking at? Call the options "basic mode" and "Outlook Mode".
Actually, looking long-term in an attempt to hold onto any new users we get, should we have an option at install that lets you choose between an "Office mode" where most options are set to follow Outlook-style expectations, and a "Pegasus mode" where our own well-worn path of option settings are used?

Take care to (manually) enable the Rich text checkbox in the editor when inserting images (it should do so automatically but this doesn't appear to always work properly).

Another good reason to save messages in their entirety is that Pegasus Mail would then help with data retension guidelines.
If a legal situation arises and a company is required to reproduce emails from, for example, 5 years ago, if the email is complete it could mean the difference between winning or losing a case.
As we know, some legal cases have required the production of emails from up to 7 years ago. If we are to be compliant with current data retension guidelines, Pegasus Mail will not help us achieve that because the message is incomplete.

Very, very, VERY good point. Hadn't thought of that. The only argument to it is that, really, such tasks should be taken care of at the server rather than the client. Of course, not everyone uses their own server, so the idea of including such an option in Pegasus remains strong.

Agreed, that's why I use and "Always" filter at the server lever to keep a complete copy of all mail sent through the server. The users "Copy self" is worthless in a legal sense since the copy self is in the users mailbox and can be edited with a simple text editor. What actually goes through the server it a lot more valid than anything in the users mailbox.
That said, it's nice if both match, but if there is no match then the server level message would be the one used.

That's fine, assuming you are running your own email server. If you are not, and rely on POP3 etc. from your ISP, then it may be difficult/impossible retrieving an original copy. Also, even if you do have your own messages duplicated by the server (as we do), they are open to the same abuse as the copy-to-self versions in the sender's mailbox.
Although a good idea, I do not want to have to manage an extra set of messages created using an 'Always' filter because of the number of messages involved. I deal with a lot of people via email and do not use my copies to self folder at all - I specify custom locations for each message sent depending on the recipient. Managing another copy simply to ensure that I had a complete message with images/attachments would simply be over-kill from my point of view.
Is there any word on whether this will be incorporated in a future version of Pegasus Mail?
Cheers!

I've not seen any signs of this happening and for what it's worth from a legal stand point a copy to self means little or nothing.
The copy must have run through a mail server with the proper headers so the legal people can go to the people running the server to compare messages. If there is no copy at the server it's a good chance it will be thrown out at least in the US.
