Well, you can at least set its status to "resolved" when looking at the top-right of your initial post.

Dear all,

Since I have installed (upgraded) to PM 4.51 I more or less regalarly get the message at start up: "Welcome to Pegasus ..."

This is a new message which I did not get in previous versions. How can I set a switch to dismiss this message (have really read all the news) ?

Thank You

In Tools, Internet options, Receiving and, after clicking 'Edit' for the pop account in question, what does the setting for 'Delete mail on server once it has been successfully retrieved' say? Or do you by any means allow read mail to stay in the new mail folder? Seems unlikely to me, because that way you'd see the message in the new new mail folder all the time. I hope I've understood your question correctly, btw. If not, please let me know.

Cheers,
Steffan

You should only get the welcome message when first using this version UNLESS you are also using a older/different version of PMail with the same account.

Steffan, the "Delete mail on servre once it has been successfully retrieved" is active.

Read mail is normally moved to a specific folder (e.g. customer1). I keep the New mail folder empty.

I'm not talking about a message which comes along the mail input. It is a pop up window which I guess opens only once per Windows session - and I start Windows XP once a day. I have not observed systematically.

Thomas, I have only one version installed. However, I have re-used the folder of the previous installation. Does this harm the installation?

You don't mean that you get the Welcome to Pegasus window that allows you to set up mailboxes, do you?

Let's postpone further digging, until I the popup will appear again. I will make a screenshot then to identify it clearly.

The popup does not occur just after a restart of Windows. The influence may be the following:
I switch between my Laptop and my Workstation. All mailbox files are on an external HD which I exchange between the two machines. On both machines the same PM version is installed on internal HD.

Must be due to different pmail.ini files. Never mind. When it pop's up again, get back to me (by e-mail) and we'll edit the ini so that it will be solved.

Han,

I have now observed that Pegasus pops up the message every third day at the first start of Pmail (be it on the workstation or the laptop): Tue, 2009-08-29; Thu 2009-08-28 and 2009-08-31:

Message Welcome to Pegaus

On your remark I have looked into pmail.ini - which is on the external disk both used on the LT and the workstation - but have not found anything relevant for this message. There is only this pmail.ini used, because both on LT and WS pmail.cfg points to O:\[D]\_NET_INF\MAIL\pmail.cfg . For safety the mail data is copied both to the LT-disk and the WS-disk, but not used from these locations (would require to delete pmail.cfg and set up again).

I also have not found a REG-value which may be used in this issue.

So I'm eager to hear from You about the necessary edit of pmail.ini!

Just to rule out any oversights and perhaps get a clearer picture of the issue: do these times happen to coincide with the moments you switch computers? Or does it - also - happen when you use one computer for three consecutive days without using the other?

Cheers!

Steffan, I will test this and work with Pegasus next days (at least 6) only on my laptop. Oh this issue needs patience from you helpers!

Dear all,

Sorry for bothering you: it turns out that i did not look correctly into my files: On the laptotp there was still Pegasus 4.41 installed while I already used Pegasus 4.51 on the workstation. It's obivious that after a change from laptop to workstation I get this message. I have now updated also on the laptop to 4.51

Again, sorry for bothering you.

Is it possible to delete this nonsense thread from the forum?

Klaus

I hope not... It gave me a little laugh actually. Anyway, it turns out Mr Stephenson's response was correct :-)

Cheers!
