Hi !
Well, I made a similar suggestion some time ago, on this forum or on the mailing list, about adding some scripting capabilities. If I remember correctly, this suggestion was discarded because it would diminish Pegasus Mail's security level. I am sure you will have some more accurate opinion on your suggestion, but I think maybe macro registering would do the same. At least, it can convey some virus in Word, that's why I am saying that. That said, isn't the development kit already a tool to make or integrate what you want into the software ?
As for the poll, maybe you should add "No, because it will compromise security". Glad to see I am not the only one using polls, we just have to wait for participation.
Cheers !

Thanks Whiskyfizz,
I guess that most macro capabilities would also be linked to some sort of (manual) scripting language as it is in MS Word with Visual Basic . Even I am not a real programmer myself I would think that this would not necessarily be the case? However, it would definitely make sense to have macro recording and scripting linked providing bigger flexibility and addressing a wider group of users. Someone could easily 'click record' some macros (scripts) and then integrate them into the work process e.g. through an icon without knowing much of the coding itself whereas other more advanced users could directly code the scripts and processes they need.
However, if the manual scripting may cause security breaches (which I assume is the part which creates vulnerability?) I would still opt for the macro recording option which may not provide manual coding options. Maybe someone with more insight could explain why scripting would create a security risk?
Nevertheless, I personally would see a difference between a MS Word macro and a PM Macro. MS Word macros may be saved within the MS Word document and hence when documents are exchanged the macros are exchanged as well and some nasty code maybe transferred. In PM this would not be the case as macros would not be related to any emails which are being exchanged.
Concerning the poll. I think its a good way to get an idea and more tangible results concerning some issues. I could have added the 'security' issues to it but changing a poll after it started tweaks the results. In addition, I still do not know how the scripting / macros would compromise security.
Cheers
