Delivery & Reading Confirm don't work

It seems likely that many of the more popular mail clients format their

receipt requests to match that of Microsoft products in an attempt to

follow the de facto standard. While I am not certain, I believe that Pegasus does not do this (please don't shout at me if this is untrue!).

You can always hit the "Special" tab and add the following header to the message.  It may or may not provide any help since most people are now turning off receipt requests to keep the spammers from confirming e-mail addresses.

X-Transcript-To: <email@address>

There is also the extension called headers that you can use to always add this to your messages.

HEADERS.DLL
X-Header Extension for Pegasus Mail (win32)

Automatically adds 4 extra message headers to outgoing
messages.
Also works with the Identities feature of Pegasus Mail 3.0 and later.

Hi,

why the delivery and/or the reading confirmation don't work? I have tried with a lot of servers. With Outlook and the same servers all is ok. But not with Pegasus Mail. Why? Thanks.

Most likely, the recipient isn't accepting these requests from you. See Pegasus Mail menu Tools/options/General settings/Advanced settings and the check box for "accept requests to confirm reading". Pegasus mail doesn't send these requests as they are almost never accepted across the Internet.

Beware that if you accept a confirm reading request, people such as spammers now have the knowledge that your email address is real and functioning.

In the other direction if you add a request, and it is responded to, you still can't tell if the recipient received and actually read the content (and understood it !!).  Most people use this facility inside MS Outlook, as a substitute for failure to deliver a message (ie vacation non-delivery etc)

My understanding is that there is no standardised method for receipt requests, and that Pegasus' requests for them will likely only be recognised by another Pegasus client. That is, unless both you and the recipient are using Pegasus, receipts are unlikely to work. Delivery requests, I think, are a little more reliable, though again, not standardised. I get this from the help files.

In advanced setting the reading confirm was signed. So, I think that or the program is not standardised for these options or exist only the flags inside the mask of new mail without relative part of program. For me is important the delivery receipt gived immediately from servers and less for the reading receipt (this depend from user). But if Pegasus Mail don't give me this option working, I need to change again the mail client and now I don't know others (Outlook excluded) with the delivery option working.
