Cannot open clipboard

[quote user="irelam"]

Try opening an app like Microsoft Word and in a new document do a "Paste Special"  which should list all the data stored in the clipboard and its format.

A reboot should clear the Clipboard.   As for the problem it is likely bad Html not following the protocol for paste'ing Html.

It's all a lot easier to do: Just open the clipboard application (used to be in the Accessories folder of the Start menu, the excutable is [Drive]:\WINDOWS\system32\clipbrd.exe which you may start via Run command or in a console window if no shortcut is available): It has a menu (View?) listing all available formats of the clipboard contents and also provides an Edit menu for clearing etc. - no need to reboot anything or use non-default applications ...

Today I got an error "Cannot open clipboard" when I try to copy text from a mail in the inbox.

But I can go to another mail copying text OK. Then going back to the first mail getting the same error.

I guess the "error mail" is html formatted, while the other isnt.

But thats no explanation, I use to copy text from all types of emails without error.

Someone knows this error?

Someone knows how to avoid it?

(I do use the newest PM on Win XP)

The "bad html" text sounds likely.

By the way, when I in my Word 2003 choose Paste special I see possibilities related to the current copy. Eg. if I copy some text from the email announcing your reply here (which goes without error), the Paste special shows: Not formatted text -- HTML format -- Not formatted Unicode text (it doesnt list any data).

When the error (rarely) occurs I cant even copy the text in the first place.
