Files corrupted : Now how do I uninstall Pegasus ?

At the risk of getting slightly off-topic (!), what "total window"? Oh, you see? Now I've gone and given you some more points, too! This is a never-ending whirlpool of paying points to people who paid you points for getting points...     :D

OK, enough. This is meant to be a serious forum you know. E-mail isn't about fun. Now back to work. Chop-chop!

I use WinXP and Pegasus 4.41.

While learning how to synchronise two computers (with SyncBack), I unfortunately copied PMAIL.INI from Machine_1 to Machine_2. Pegasus on M2 has become corrupted and won't open my emails, then freezes. I probably also made a few other mistakes. I know now what I should have done (clean install on M2, copy files but NOT pmail.ini from M1 to M2, thereafter copy the mail files but NEVER pmail.ini backwards and forwards).

But my problem now is that I cannot uninstall Pegasus from M2 in order to do a fresh install. It does not show up on the list of applications at : Control Panel > Add or remove programs. Nor does it show up in CClean (same list of applications). Nor can I find any Pegasus Uninstall facility.

I am tempted simply to delete the folder C:\PMAIL with all its contents - but will that give me a problem vis-a-vis Registry?

Please, someone, how do I uninstall Pegasus, when it is apparently invisible to WinXP?

Yes, you can just delete the Pmail folder. As you didn't install Pegasus, you just copied all of the files across, there shouldn't be anything in your registry anyway.

Are you trying to have Pegasus on both computers? With the same settings and mail?

Thank you for your reply, Sharkfin.

Well, I did actually install Pegasus independently on both machines (M1 is a laptop I use in the office, M2 is a netbook I intend using for travelling). I didn't simply copy one to the other. But when I started experimenting with the synchronizer, I sync'd / copied all Pegasus files from M1 to M2 - which, I think, was when my trouble began. I have since on this forum seen that the best way to synchronise Pegasus on two machine is to do a clean install on M2, then copy all files *except PMAIL.INI* across from M1 to M2 ... and synchronise them backwards and forwards in future, except for PMAIL.INI.

So in answer to your question, yes, I want to have Pegasus on both machines, with the same settings and mail. In practice I shall probably work 90% of the time on M1, and only synchronise Pegasus across to M2 the evening before I go off on trips.

Do you still reckon I can just delete the Pmail folder on M2 - then reinstall?

The ways of the Points Fairy are deep and mysterious, but now that the total window has been removed it is not so important.
