Thanks once again. I solved it half way.
I had a lot of invalid email addresses that didn't exist, I removed them and that helped. Now it takes around an hour, approximately. 750 members.
For 2 weeks I've tried setting up my own email system. I'm so confused.
I have no idea how this stuff works.. I tried to read some tutorials,
but they only explain how to setup up the actual email server (and that
isn't even the hard part here).
I want people to be able to use the lost password function, send out
newsletter and those stuff. The PHP scripts for that is already
covered. The question is how do I make the email system work? What DNS
settings to use? Try to get the whole picture right for me.
What I want to do:
Being able to use the domain "tibia help.com" to send out emails to the users.
What I have done so far:
All necessary ports are unblocked.
Configured the email server (Mercury) as following:
Tibia IP Changer
Tibia IP Changers
The DNS settings:
tibia help.com MX dns is set to 85.227.190.37 (IP where email server is hosted)
When I try to send an email from jontz@tibia help.com, this is what I get:
Temporary error 249 (temporary MX resolution error) resolving 'hotmail'.com'.

Your server is up and answering SMTP requests, at least.
To get name resolution to work you should probably just clear the Name servers field in MercuryE configuration and let Windows indicate which servers to use. IP Interface to use can normally be left blank as well. Restart Mercury to be sure that the changes get into effect.

Sorry I didnt get you? I do own the domain. If that wasn't what you meant, what does a "fixed IP address/registered host name" mean?

Edit: It didn't work Rolf, same MX error. Can't resolve hotmail.com
Also double checked the ports, and they are opened. 25 and 110, that is.
But I'm really skeptical to the name server settings, you sure I'm not supposed to use my domain company's name server?
Where did you get that IP? I get this MX for tibiahelp.com:

Mercury will automatically use the same name servers as you have configured in Windows. If you can connect to hotmail.com from a browser on that computer it should work from Mercury as well. If you can't connect from a browser you should check the DNS settings in Windows. Normally you should use your Internet provider's name servers.

One or all that you want. The IP addresses are entered separated by a comma.
The help makes that pretty clear,
Name Servers By default, MercuryE will ask Windows for the address of the name server it should use to resolve mail addresses. If you operate in a dialup environment, or if the machine where Mercury runs gets its configuration information via DHCP, then MercuryE may not be able to retrieve this information properly. In situations like this, you should enter the IP addresses of the name servers MercuryE should use in this field, separated by commas.
Maybe the problem is not with the nameserver. Can you send email to other domains - is it just hotmail that has the problem?
If you are connected via a personally account from your ISP, that range of IP addresses may be blocked by such as hotmail, as most mail from such account is spam from infected machines. If so you can find out the source of the blacklisting and ask them to remove your IP.
A reverse lookup on 85.227.190.37 gives this result:

So assuming this is correct and your Internet provider is Bredbandsbolaget you should normally use the name servers that they have provided for you. In most cases it will be enough to enter this information in Windows and leave the field in MercuryE configuration blank (as indicated in Mercury help).
The mydomain.com name servers are relevant for obtaining information about your domain from other name servers, but not really for resolving other domain names from your mail server.

Nope, nothing like that. I can't send any mails out from local via the server. However! I managed to setup it so I can RECEIVE mails! That didn't work before :D
but I agree, the problem is probably not nameservers, I just fucked something really basic up so I'll go through it again. I probably forget filling out something I should have. But that's what I have you guys for, right? ;)
* I've setup a local account on my mercury server named Jontz (the admin). That is the user I'm trying to send emails from.
* I disabled email forwarding in domain account.
* For the third time, I've made sure the ports are opened (110 and 25).

1. Leave IP interface to use blank for all modules.
2. Make sure your DNS settings in Windows are correct. Use the name servers provided by your Internet Service Provider (Bredbandsbolaget). If you don't know them, call the helpdesk at Bredbandsbolaget.
3. The tiabhelp.com DNS settings are working and are not the problem here. One things that you should fix anyway, though: MX records MUST contain a hostname, it may not be numerical, so delete the 85.227.190.37 MX.

But you guys told me, if I can surf yahoo.com, hotmail.com etc it must mean they are working. So I still don't think that is where the problem lies...some very basic miss somewhere.

This can happen if you have more than one name server defined in Windows, and one of them is failing. It's a bit tricky to say what is happening without being able to test it, but you could try downloading some simple IP tool and test it yourself. One tool I use a lot is CyberKit (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,17440-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html). In the NSLookup tab you can specify each name server and try querying for MX records for some common domains.

I still don't believe that's the problem. I never had any problems with solving domains names. Never ever never ever.
Sorry I'm not trying being ignorant, I know you're the experienced guys, but I'm just saying there is a misconfiguration somewhere.
I checked the DNS settings and it is set to automatically. If don't want to use the automatic one, which should I use?
As you are seeing error messages in Mercury for resolution problems it seems likely that this is indeed the case.
