[4.51] Change permissions needed for mail storage directory?

Ok I assume that you are only putting single messages into this users directory since read-only folders have never been possible in any version of Pegasus Mail.

That said, I archive messages (*.CNM files) to read-only CDROMs and mount them with "Add mailbox to list" without any problems reading the messages at all.

For each project we work with, we create a separate user in Pmail. During the project several users working on the project use this as a shared mailbox ("Add mailbox to list" with the user option) where all the communication is stored. This way we don't need to send a lot of internal cc and/or bcc's and all information is stored at one location.

After the closure of  each project, files and pegasus user directory are stored on DVD and a copy is made on our server with read-only permission on our network. With Pmail 4.41 we were able to view all the mail of the pegasus user by using the "Add mailbox to list" with directory path option. We use the directory path option because the user is not longer known in the Pmail.usr file, the location differs from our default mail storage location.

With Pmail 4.41 we were able to view messages on these read-only directories, with Pmail 4.51 the added mailbox stays empty. The only shown folder is the new mail folder, but remains empty (no messages are listed). If I temporarily change the file permissions from read only to change on the archived mail directory, all messages and folder are shown.

Is the above a known feature of Pmail 4.51? Is there a workaround to be able to view messages and folder located in read-only directories?

 Thanks

Unfortunately I am not able to test an answer for you (I only have XP Home on this PC) but I was wondering whether you have tried using public folders rather than creating new users for each project. I don't believe this would affect your issue but it would appear to be a more logical way of working.
