PegasusMail v 4.51 under Windows Vista - 64 - Problem about Flash.ocx

Yes, I was able to address the problem by configuring Pegasus to call the 32 bit version of IE, instead of the 64 bit version.

Under Tools | Options | Incoming Mail | Hyperlinks go to the "Web Browser Command Line" field and enter:

C:\Programs Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

(Or browse to it if your file structure is different)  Be sure that "Find Browser Automatically" is NOT checked.

I'm using PMail 4.51 on a Windows Vista Business 64 bit implementation.  In general, I haven't seen any real probems, with one small exception.  I;m wondering if anyone else has seen this effect?

When I click on a link to a website from within Pegasus mail, the link operates fine.  But after that, when I close Pegasus, it generates an error saying "This program requires flash.ocx, which is no longer included in this version of Windows."  There isn't a 64-bit version of Flash yet, so even installing the 32 bit version didn't seem to help.  The error doesn't seem to actually cause any problems.  It's reproducable consistently - it just took me a while to grok the sequence, because the first few times it happened there was a fairly long delay between when I opened the web browser and later closed PMail.

Anyone know why PMail would be calling Flash?

I can neither find any references to flash.ocx in any of Pegasus Mail's (associated) binaries nor does a DependencyWalker profile list any attempts to load it on XP, maybe you should give it a try yourself: You may get the 64bit version and load WINPM-32.EXE into it (via File => Open or <Ctrl + O>), then start profiling by pressing <F7> or via selecting the respective menu entry. In the bottommost window pane it'll list all attempts to load other modules, so if flash.ocx is one of them it should get listed in there (use <Ctrl + F> or the respective menu entry to search for it after clicking the respective pane).

Did you ever resolve this? I am having this same experience in Windows 7.

See the link below from Microsoft, involving a rename of flash ocx file or downloading the correct library from the vendor

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowscompatibility/thread/399803a5-89f6-47f4-a794-20b599f7b732/

The file is located in c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash  as flashnna.ocx where nn is a version number, a is an alpha suffix, mine is 10d

Copy it into c:\windows\system32 as Flash.ocx (note this is only for use with old application software that needed Flash version 7 or older.
