Totally Stumped on how to get email sent

I appreciate the Help everyone here has provided.

But I have decided that it is more trouble then it is worth at this point. This was a pet project and not much of a priority.

You guy were very helpful thanks.

1.    How are you sending the mail?  MercuryE or MercuryC?  Turn on session logging in the one you are using and provide a copy of the result.

2.    Can you telnet into port 25 of tstephenson.com and get a response? i.e. Start | Run telnet tstephenson.com 25

Turn on session logging to see exactly what is going on.  FWIW, are you using a fixed IP address with Mercury?  If not many servers will reject the connection based on the use of a blacklist that blocks mail coming from a randomly assigned IP address.  In this case you should use MercuryC instead of MercuryE to send the mail by relaying through your ISP's SMTP mail server.

Not sure, but what was the error message?

1.   The IP address 67.128.121.52 does not respond as a POP3 host.

2.   The IP address you have listed has a double period, i.e. 67.128.121..52

67.128.121.52 has no rDNS (this may cripple your ability to send to some servers with MercE) but seems to be a Quest cable ip.

I take it that this is your public ip that you are running Mercury behind?

I'm also assuming that the error you report above is from your mail client, while trying to connect to the Mercury POP3 server.

If you are doing this from inside your LAN, then your public ip is not going to work, and you will need to enter the local name or ip address of your Mercury server in your mail client settings.
