Cant Get Mercury E to send

If it's possible to confirm it's a reverse DNS issue you could ask your ISP to change the record for your IP address, which they quite likely would do for a business client. (At least for a fee.)

Can anyone help me.

I have tried to swap from Mercury C to Mercury E to resolve some other problems but Mercury E wont sent.

I get the following message (or similar for other destination addresses):

 T 20091128 170506 4b115528 Begin processing job MO000002 from atest@bishopsstortfordtc.gov.uk
W 20091128 170507 4b115528 Error connecting to primary server '85.158.138.147'.
W 20091128 170508 4b115528 Error connecting to alternate server '194.106.221.19'.
E 20091128 170508 4b115528 Processing of job MO000002 incomplete or failed.
T 20091128 170508 4b115528 Job MO000002 processing complete.

Basically it looks to me as if Mercury is finding the IP address of the remote host but cant connect.

Mercury is behind a firewall but I can telnet to tstephenson.com 25 (following advice in a previous post).

 Any suggestions?

I'm not able to get a response on port 25 from those IP addresses either. So, assuming that the servers aren't simply down, it could be that they are checking the reverse DNS on the IP and reject it as the name isn't a "real" assigned hostname but just the Internet provider's standard name (common for home connections). Another possibility is that they use a DNS blacklist that has your IP listed.

Thanks that seems a plausible explanation.

Actually its a work address, fixed ip but the domain is hosted elsewhere (mail is received via a 'domain' mailbox hosted by the isp.

Is there any fix?
