Pegasus shuts down! - "Not Responding".

I had the same issue that start this thread (...locked by another process etc.). Initial attempts to delete MAILBOXP.LCK did not work. I discovered that the 'file owner' from from one of my other user accounts. Deleting the MAILBOXP.LCK file from an account with admin privileges solved the problem. Back in business.

Further, FYI another article suggested moving the CNM file. In my case this didn't work - probably due to the conflict indicated above.

LAST - thanks for the help.

Wanted to change from Outlook Express. Downloaded Pegasus, it worked a couple of times but now it comes up with a message saying:-

"The mailbox you are attempting to access appears to be locked by another process. .......".

I click continue (I'm the only user on this p.c.) the screen then alters - nothing much appears on it, basically blank but there is a menu bar at the top. Clicking on 'File' the screen changes and the words "Not Responding" appears at the top.

I've tried deleting the programme and downloading again, same result.

Any help please.

You can try the following: after making sure that Pegasus is closed, locate a file named  MAILBOXP.LCK and delete it. Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Thanks Steffan, tried it, deleted the file but no difference. Still can't use Pegasus. Guess I'll just remove the programme and go somewhere else, pity as Pegasus looked OK.

Thanks again.

When deleting Pegasus, did you wipe out all traces of Pegasus (i.e. remove all program and mail directories and files, you don't have to touch the registry)? If not, you could give it another shot.

Also, did Pegasus stop behaving normally just like that or after you made some changes to your system (like installing a new printer, for example)?

Cheers!

I am also a single user on a WinXpSp3 unit. I have been using 4.41 for for some time with the same lock-up and not responding issue. Deleting MAILBOXP.LCK lets me back in on the next start of Pegasus, but as soon as I click on anything ( tools or maximize box or folder) it locks and I can do nothing but shut down. From an older thread on this issue, I want to set Tools>Options>Winsock to Always, but I can't get there. Is there a way to reach this without opening Pegasus? Or is there a better way to resolve this issue. I have also updated to Ver 4.51, but it did not help.

Hello Ozark-tek,

Close Pegasus Mail. Move all of the *.CNM files out of the 'New mail' directory temporarily to another
directory and try to start Pegasus Mail again.
If this works you can put them back one at a time.
