WHY? Why a rewrite? Too many bugs!!!
I still have a copy of 441, so if your email can take 7M or you have an ftp site let me know.
While I myself have absolutely no reason whatsoever to downgrade to 4.41, those who do shouldn't have too much difficulty finding a copy because it's right in the Downloads section of this very forum.

Cheers!

4.4 was working fine.

Then, after 4.5x was out for about six months or so,

I decided  to update.  Big mistake.

No more "change user".   No more identities.

Sure, identities exist,  but all of mine (except for default)

were wiped out.  I know I could do some hacking and get

those back (they still exist on a FAT32 partition somewhere),

but why bother?

Another issue is memory leaks.

Yet another issue is startup. It takes forever, but not always.

It should NOT take 30 seconds or more to open Pegasus.

Furthermore,  most of my drafts were erroneously marked as

"autosave", which caused a world of problems (no pun intended).

Methinks "functions removed" equals "functions not working in new codebase".

But why, a new codebase, in the first place?  v4.41 was fine, in the old codebase.

I give up.  I'm gonna convert all my Pegasus 2.x mailboxes to Unix, and then start

using Ximian, via cygwin, unless someone comes up with a better solution. (kidding)

Where can I download  4.41?  (not kidding)

Methinks 4.41 is EOL for Pmail, as we know it.

Too many bugs in 4.51    Sorry...

What can I say -- your experience is not borne out by the vast majority of Pmail users.

Sadly I am in agreement with OP. When I paid for Pegasus in the early 90s it was with a paper cheque posted to NZ. Then and for quite a few years Pegasus was fine and would run forever until PC rebooted. Of late though it is forever going into infinte death loop of out of resources that can only be stopped by rebooting PC. You even have to use task manager to kill Pegasus. It now also has problems with jpeg attachmens and fails to save attachments with a file type despite identifying them correctly.

I still have a copy of 441, so if your email can take 7M or you have an ftp site let me know.
