Folder indexing issue

Could be a hardware issue or a network connection issue, but is more likely to have something to do with the IMAP client. I regularly access big IMAP folders (>10000 messages) on Mercury using Eudora, and even though it will take a minute or two to get everything synchronized there are no huge delays. Try it with some other client software to find out if the result will be different.

It might be a good idea to make sure there is no real-time antivirus software active on the Mercury mailbox folders as well.

I don't know if my problem is a Mercury configuration issue, or an imap mail client issue. Every time I go to open a large mail folder, I get a series of time consuming events. First, there is a message that says "Opening folder" followed by a significant delay. This is followed by a display of "Downloading message header x of y" which takes a very long time to finish. This then is followed by a message "Indexing x of y messages in folder" and this is just interminable. I have the latest version of Mercury, and the mail client is Thunderbird. Can anyone help me resolve this? I thought the mail headers were downloaded once and indexed, but this doesn't seem to be happening in my setup. Everything works, as long as I have an hour to open a folder! Thanks, in advance, for your help.
