Font change doesn't take effect.

Once text is typed on an existing document (following the changing of

the font) its font will change further when the page font changes, but

for some inserted text/words, the size of the text could not be changed

again. It was frozen at that size. Strange behavior. I can't understand

why that would happen with some inserted words and not others. I wonder

how the fonts and character sizes are intended to behave?

I have been trying in vain to duplicate this.  What are you using the change the font?  The black "f" works just fine for me to change the selected font.  Do you happen to be using the red "f" that changes the page font and not the selected font?

Pegasus 4.41 on Win98SE

Font change doesn't take effect. In replying to an email I inserted my text in the original message. To make my part stand out from the original, I tried to change its font to Arial. But the new font does not take effect. The sample that is in the font message box changes but the change doesn't carry through to the message itself.

Is there something special I should be doing?

Do you allow sending formatted messages (Tools|Options|Message formatting)? And if you do, does your reader display the "fancy" version (Tools|Options|Message reader) or the plain text version (if multipart/alternative is enabled on Tools|Options|Sending mail)?

1) Yes

2) Yes

3) Yes

Something strange happens. In replying to an email, I start a new line and write qwerty and select it.

Then [Message][font][wingdings][OK]

It doesn't change. then insert the cursor after q and type "q". The whole line changes to wingding.

After some experimentation I have concluded the following about formatting a message -- almost:

1) It is not possible to limit a font change to selected text only.

2) When you set the font, it applies to the whole document, but the new font is limited to the text that you type after the setting is applied.

3) Once text is typed on an existing document (following the setting of the font) its font and size cannot be changed for that text again.

4) Exception -- text typed on a new document before a font is applied can be re-fonted repeatedly.

Is this true? That is the way it seems to work for me?

How about updating your Pegasus Mail version for a try?

That result is repeatable with the v4.41 on win98.

I am getting some of the same results on my laptop with V4.51 Windows 7. From above:

1) (SAME) It is not possible to limit a font change to the selected text only. I suspect this is by design.

2) (No longer happens)

Have you tried altering the font from the styles toolbar at the top of the message?  What you describe doesn't happen to me when generating rich text.
