Outgoing email--html formatting?

[quote user="breezes"]

I have changed two settings in the options; outgoing mail; messages & replies.  I have turned on "Use Mime features" and "Rich (formatted) text".  This seems to have cured the problem, in that I have received no further complaints, and several emails seem to have gone out properly.  I guess time will be the true test.

I have no idea why you would have had MIME turned off. That seems like a good candidate for being the cause of the problem.

I just received a comment/complaint about my email.  What it seems to amount to is that my email is being received showing visable html coding.  I sent two test emails to the same destination, with myself as an additional addressee.  The first was fine, no problem.  The second showed the problem clearly.  I have received this complaint from only one person, but I have confirmed it on the second email, addressed to that person and to myself.  I'll paste in a partial copy of what I received.

I'm hoping that I have a setting wrong, but I don't really know.  I haven't knowingly set Pegasus to do this.  I need your help on this one.

 I'm running Pegasus 4.41 on a Windows 2000Pro system.

Presumably you don't see this raw HTML while you are preparing the message. Does it show in your copies-to-self?

How are you creating your messages? Are you importing an HTML file?

Are you sending as plain text or rich text?

Are you pasting data copied from a web page? Is Pegasus set to always paste plain text?

I'll answer your questions first, then explain what I've done.

I did not see the raw HTML while preparing the email, and it did not show in my copies -to-self. It did show both to others and to me when I included myself as an addressee. I created the outgoing email just as I always have, either typing a new message or replying to an email.  I was not importing an HTML file, nor pasting data from a web page.  I was not pasting anything into the text.  I was sending as plain text.

Thanks for your help.
