Help! I've just upgraded to Pegasus 4.52 and I'm getting a screen asking for my username. I've been using Pegasus for 15 years and have never set a username. I've looked at other threads on this issue and the pconfig settings and pmail.usr file appear to be correct so I'm stuck! Any advice? I really, really need to get to my email because I run a small business from home and have client mails waiting to be responded to....help!

Thanks,

Ann

Path or rights problem.  What does pconfig show for the new mail directory spec.  Where is your pmail.ini file located?

Home mailbox: C:\PMAIL\MAIL\~N

New mailbox: C:\PMAIL\MAIL\~N

 Asynch gateway? :Y

(I've tried changing this to N but it didn't make any difference)

pmail.ini is apparently in C:\PMAIL\Programs

Pretty normal.  The pmail.ini should be in c:\pmail\mail\admin if this is a default single user standalone setup.  There should be a pmail.usr file in c:\pmail\mail with the following data,

; PMAIL.USR Pegasus Mail user database.
A;Admin;Mail Administrator

Not material to the problem.

pmail.ini is apparently in C:\PMAIL\Programs
Then this could easily be the problem.  The user data should not be in this directory.

I've now uninstalled it entirely (backed up contents of the Mail folder first) and reinstalled, and it's still doing the same thing.

I've now uninstalled it entirely (backed up contents of the Mail folder first) and reinstalled, and it's still doing the same thing.

Having uninstalled, reinstalled and run a search, it's now telling me that pmail.ini is in C:\pmail\mail\admin but I'm still getting the same problem.

the usr file is in mail\admin and says:

; PMAIL.USR Pegasus Mail user database.
A;Ann;Mail Administrator

I've tried putting Ann as the username but it says I don't exist  [:S]

I've given up and gone back to 4.51 for now! Many many thanks for your help though - it really is appreciated.
