Variable Signatures do not appear to be working for me

Just a quick update. The folks on the Pegasus Mail for Windows Discussion List (PM-WIN@bama.ua.edu) helped guide me through the issue.

What I learned:

Issue: If I had Pegasus include a formatted signature by default (i.e. Checked the 'Add his variant of the signature up message creation' box and select one the formatted signature options), it would not add the random quote regardless of whether Rich Text was On or Off.
Solution: Unchecked the 'Add his variant of the signature up message creation' box.

Issue: For Rich Text signatures, my entire list of quotes displayed after my name.
Solution: Added a carriage return after the quote placeholder in each signature.

Everything works fine now.

I have searched around and can not find an answer to this issue and hope someone can help.

I recently reinstalled Pegasus Mail as a replacement for Thunderbird. I want to set up variable signatures. I have done this once before, a while back, when I last had Pegasus Mail installed, so did not think much about it until I noticed on a Copy to Self that my signature included my name with "~!" (without the quotes) underneath it. Rather than insert the signature in place of the ~!, it just used it as part of the signature.

My first thought was that the new installation could not use the old rquotes.pms file.

 So, I did the following:

1) Deleted the old rquotes.pms file
2) Opened the new rquotes.r file
3) Added my signatures to the new rquotes.r file using the format used in the samples
4) Opened a command prompt and used rescom to complile the rquotes.r file. I received the following response:

Created resource file rquotes.rsc:
Total of 70 entries, largest = 177 bytes.
Resource table size: 490 bytes.
542336 bytes memory free.

5) Used explorer to copy the rquotes.rsc into my mail folder (C:\PMAIL\MAIL\<me>
6) Renamed the rquotes.rsc as rquotes.pms

I opened Pegasus and sent myself a test message and it still displays ~! as my "witty quote" instead of my witty quote. I checked all iterations of the signature I wished to use (Internet-formated, internet-plain, local-formatted and local-plain) and all are identical in setup.  My name on the first line and ~! on the second line. I read that deselecting the "Add this variant..." option in the Signature section of the Options might help, but it made no difference. I receive no error message, so have no idea what is going on.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the variable signatures to work?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Have a great day!
