Multiple Email Accounts Login Issues

P.S./ SUGGESTION: You know, I have tried other mail servers such as

Hmail and those were easy to get up going fast.

Since they had fewer options and capabilities of course they were easier to setup.  ;-)

I am having trouble figuring out why different email accounts can login between each other. For example, I have 2 domains... mysite1 .com and mysite2.net and the email acocunts between the both can login between each other...... jesse@mysite1.com can also login as jesse@mysite2.net ...

I have one static ip and use virtualhosts in my setup...

Any thoughts?

Mailboxes in Mercury are not bound to a domain, so jesse@mysite1.com and jesse@mysite2.net will both access the mailbox jesse (assuming that both domains are listed as local domains in Mercury).

If you want domain-specific mailboxes you can create aliases containing the full address pointing to different mailboxes, for instance jesse@mysite1.com -> jessecom and jesse@mysite2.net -> jessenet.

I tried Aliases....

Alias: jesse       -----    Real Address: jesse@mysite1.com

also tried..

Alias: jesse@mysite.com     -----   Real Name: jesse

 I  still can login to jesse@mysite2.net ....

I really need each email account separate from each other...

Sorry if I was unclear. Remove the mailbox called jesse and instead create two separate mailboxes, for instance jessecom and jessenet. Then create an alias for each mailbox with the complete address: jesse@mysite1.com -> jessecom, jesse@mysite2.net -> jessenet.

I'd go a bit further and alias to an e-mail address, i.e.  jesse@mysite1.com

-> jessecom.mysite1.com to ensure the X-Envelope-To: address is a full SMTP e-mail address.  ;-)

Seems you are getting a name resolution error. MercuryE will attempt to use the same name servers as used by Windows. The MercuryE console will show these settings at program start. If this for some reason fails you can manually enter the IP addresses in the Name servers field in MercuryE configuration. This should be the DNS servers that your Internet provider has suggested for you.

*** james@charter.netPermanent error 11001 (non-existent host or domain) resolving 'charter.net'.
This is a valid domain name with a MX host that answers as a SMTP host.
 Answer Section:
charter.net, A, 64.192.190.12
charter.net, MX, 10, ib1.charter.net
Have you entered the IP addresses of your DNS host in MercuryE? From the help:
Name Servers By default, MercuryE will ask Windows for the address of the name server it should use to resolve mail addresses.
If you operate in a dialup environment, or if the machine where Mercury runs gets its configuration information via DHCP, then
MercuryE may not be able to retrieve this information properly. In situations like this, you should enter the IP addresses of
the name servers MercuryE should use in this field, separated by commas.

Rolf, Thomas...

Its working fine now.......

P.S./ SUGGESTION: You know, I have tried other mail servers such as Hmail and those were easy to get up going fast... I think Mercury/32 needs some improvements in that area. Overall, am very satisfied with this product... community involvement is very strong here and I think thats what makes this product as fine as it is..Thanks!
