Community Discussions and Support
Just a message of gratitude

There is an extension, NewsMail, to obtain NNTP digests, located on the Community site,

see Url: http://community.pmail.com/files/folders/utils/entry9716.aspx

There is also an extension to post to NNTP service, but it depends on NewsMail, so I will leave that for another day.

For years I have been using Netscape Mail (from Communicator 4.72 and then from NS7.2) running on Win2k Terminal Server and Netware 5.1 as our organization email client; user profiles and the local messages stores were on Netware shares comprising users' home directories. This scheme worked until the up-time before hanging or crashing began to decrease to unacceptable levels and so Thunderbird was tried as a logical upgrade (preserving much of the profile information from Netscape) but it had horrible issues on Terminal Services including stalls as long as five minutes where it became unresponsive to any input and its windows would freeze or go blank. I wish that I had been exposed to Pegasus earlier; it works very well on Terminal Services and its Netware integration is ideal. I wanted to find a lightweight client that supported current Internet standards and would work in our environment and truly this is it.  I apolgize that due to our poverty we cannot provide a donation at this time but I will certainly proselytize Pegasus and seek support for it.  I hope that it will continue to be lean and un-bloated, with maintenance and updates only for standards compliance -- there are enough other email bloatware clients for the masses.  Adding support for NNTP accounts might be a useful feature however but only if it didn't impact performance for email or require substantial additional memory.  Thanks again, Michael
