When I start Pegasus, I get the message "mailbox is locked". I click continue and Pegasus starts. However, when I try to open the "new mail" folder, I get a pop-up box stating "pegasus mail for windows has stopped working". "a problem caused the program to stop working correctly". "windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

 Any ideas?

Only a guess, but it might be a bad message in the new mail folder.

Move all of the *.CNM files out of the new mail directory and try again.  It should now open normally.  You can then put the messages back one at a time until you find the problem message.

Worked. removed all messages and program started normally.

Could it be that you were trying to send a really large message and it failed.  If so try moving the PMO, PMX and PMW files out of the home mail directory and try again.

Hi Thomas

Yes i have tried this and its still not working unfortunately, and it never happened as i was trying to send a really large message, it just seemed to come about when i clicked on new message, this opened lots of windows within pegasus and then it crashed, any ideas what might have caused this?

Many Thanks

I've never seen anything like this before with Pegasus Mail. This might be something wrong with the pmail.ini, hierarch.pm, desktop.pm* or state.pmj files.  You might try replacing these one at a time (i.e. rename them or move them out of the mail directory) and see what happens when you start Pegasus Mail.

I would save the pmail.ini for last since it the most critical of all the files.
