Well, until now I used Pmail under C:\Program Files (x86) without problem (I installed Win Vista 2 yaers ago or so), by giving Modify and Write permissions for MAIL subdirectory! Why now, with 4.52, it doesn't work anymore?[/quote]
It's a compiler/linker issue (said someone who knows better): Since 4.52 has been compiled with a more recent version of the Visual C IDE it got "elevated" to claiming to be fully VISTA (and later) compliant which it actually isn't as it still writes user data to UAC protected directories if installed to a Program Files path. If it wouldn't claim the former Windows would simply "virtualize" these directories without anyone noticing (which happened with 4.51), now it just stops working properly without telling anyone what's going wrong: Security fighting usability, once again, unfortunately ... (both are important enough, of course!)
