As a user of version 4.41 (W32) of PM I am looking to install
PGP on a single computer. Which one of the different packages available do I
have to purchase? Does it have to be "PGP Desktop Email" or will "PGP
Desktop Home" (which is less costly) do the job?

Well, I don't think anyone on this forum can really answer your question: You'll have to compare your requirements with PGP's product offers, and if you don't want to use it for any business purposes you might even qualify for a free version which provides at least file encryption (and is supported by my PGP extension). Please go to <http://www.pgp.com/downloads/desktoptrial/desktoptrial2.html> to find out: You may keep the free version (with limited features) after the trial period expires. If you buy it you may continue using it's built-in email encryption (proxy) which doesn't require any extension for Pegasus Mail (or any other email client), but all incoming mail will be stored unencrypted (storing encrypted copies to self doesn't work either way because of Pegasus Mail's limited interface, but then you might just create your mailbox directory on an encrypted disk/partition etc. which can be done (free of charge) using TrueCrypt).

Is there really no chance to get a free pgp version software which does work with pegasus mail?
Gpg4win works not too :(
Something like GnuPG - is there no support?

This depends on your defintions of free pgp version and does work with pegasus mail. Like described in my previous post there is a current version of PGP that may be used for free with PM after installing my PGP extension (there are different language versions).

See this thread for issues with GnuPG.

Thanks for your quick reply and i readed this posts to, but i am still not sure what to do.
I just want to send and recieve mails with pegasus per end point decryption, i do not need a decryption on my harddrive.
What i did:
1. I installed qdqgp
2. copied GPG2.EXE to GPG.EXE
3. try to install pgpwpmde.exe -> doesn`t work, tells me i need pgp 6.5.x or higher
I don`t know how to add in registry:
[HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\GNU\GnuPG]
"Install Directory"="F:\\Program Files\\GNU\\GnuPG"
3. try to install pgpwpmde.exe -> doesn`t work, tells me i need pgp 6.5.x or higher
Of course not because it doesn't work with GnuPG: There is no way to get current versions of GnuPG to work with Pegasus Mail unless you use their own tools which still won't integrate it seamlessly within Pegasus Mail. IOW: You may either use PGP with PMPGP as a fully supported version or GPG the hard way, sorry.
Abgesehen davon gibt's ein deutschsprachiges Forum, falls es Verständnisprobleme geben sollte ...

I don`t want to start a new thread, so i try my english ;)
Is there any free PGP Version downloadable anywhere? I don´t want to register or buy it.
If I look on their page, Trialware will expire after 30 days :(
Thanks again for you help.
I don't think there has been a free version since ownership changed hands some time ago.
There was a v8.0 free version and you might still find that if you search.
I think there is also an "International" version which I think was based on v8.0 also.
I can't comment on the security of that product.

I already wrote about this my first post to this thread, please read it: You can use the trialware as a permanently free version if choosing the proper options. Of course they don't advertise it since they want you to buy a license, but I'm using it this way ever since!Michael -- IERenderer's Homepage PGP Key ID (RSA 2048): 0xC45D831B S/MIME Fingerprint: 94C6B471 0C623088 A5B27701 742B8666 3B7E657C
Thanks for reply, i registered at Symatec, downloaded and installed it, i can install it now, but i got several errors:
1.: the free version now only supports gpg zip and no gpg mail encryption - this would mess up all :(
2. it can not find any keys for my "Schlüsselbund" [kann privates Schlüsselbund + öffentliches Schlüsselbund nicht finden]
(I created keys in pgp)
:(
Well I resign and i don`t really want that Symatec controles my PC, like this desktop software seems to do, evertime asking if if might ... no thanks.
Thanks for friendly help in this forum!
Maybe there will be a time with a free and automated integration of pgp in pegasus.

It's already there it it doesn't bother me at all: I have no idea what you are talking about, please provide details! Here's how I have it running (as PGP Zip):

I already added a private key in Symatec in PGP Keys, but Pegasus can not find or use it?
Trying to send a mail to myself:
(Pegasus reacting very slow and hangs 15 seconds or more between each step)
1. Symatec tells me to deactivate SSL
2. Pegasus error:

I don`t know what to do
I reinstalled pegasus (new installation) and now still pegasus (as before) just freeze for several minutes!
I can not work with that.
Looks like to give up Pegasus my favoured mailservice since 13 years :(
Kann privates Schlüsselbund + öffentliches Schlüsselbund nicht finden, wiederholen?
After starting Pegasus Mail there's a menu item in its main menu named idw's PGP-Frontend providing a menu entry for a configuration dialog allowing you to search and set the keyring paths if it can't find them via Registry (see below). Depending on the Windows version you use there should be some PGP directory in your MyDocuments folder containing these files.
1. Symatec tells me to deactivate SSL...
You didn't restrict PGP to only use the free PGP zip option like shown in the dialog in my previous post. Open PGP (you may use the toolbar button provided for doing so from Pegasus Mail's main toolbar, the second one from the right in the screenshot below) and go to its Help => Licence menu where you should change the licence to PGP zip. This should prevent PGP from interfering with your POP and SMTP processing.

Thansk for your hints, did both (Win 7, found it in my documents pgp folder).
Just sending a decrypted letter to myself and ...: it seams to work - finally.
Could you please write a testmail to me? st ern bog en AT g m x . de
(of course no blanks and AT = @)
But still, everytime pegasus tries to sync with mailprovider (GMX) [send or receive] it freezes for several minutes. ...I can not work with this.
(none if my PC cores shows high busyness (and my PC isn`t bad), but why does pegasus freeze so long, even there is no new mail)?
Or when i send just 1 mail with 40kbytes, i don't want to 1 minute to write next.
Could you please write a testmail to me? st ern bog en AT g m x . de
Did you send you PGP key to the keyserver? Otherwise I won't be able to write an encrypted mail to you.
But still, everytime pegasus tries to sync with mailprovider (GMX) [send or receive] it freezes for several minutes. ...I can not work with this.
Maybe you need to disable PGP's email proxy manually (in the "Extras" menu of PGP). And do you have Tools => Options => Advanced settings => Load Windows Internet Services set to Always (Restart Pegasus Mail after modifying this option)?

I totally removed/deinstalled everything (and pegasus folder) and reinstalled all - now the freezes are over, finally thanks ...
I exported my key the the server, but i still think my letters are not encrypted, but at least i can work again with pegasus!
