multiple users on 1 mailbox possible?

Surely the most efficient answer is to forward the mail to a public folder. Only one copy of the message and everyone can see if it has been replied-to or not? Or they can grab it from there and move it into their own folder to "take ownership".

Let's say I have an info@domainname.com and want multiple users to check this emailbox and reply/remove the messages.

Is is it possible to let multiple local-users look in a single pop3 email box?

I can't put multiple local-users in a MercuryD POP3-account.So how is this possible?

Or do i have to user IMAP?

It's not recommended to have several users simultaneously accessing a single mailbox with either POP3 or IMAP. You may be able to read messages from several clients but there will be various kinds of problems with deletes and keeping track of what has been seen by each client.

Could you use a mailing list instead? Or distribute incoming messages to several mailboxes using forwarding or a general rule?

1.    Create a mailing list called info.  Use the address info@domain.com in the USER name in MercuryD so it will be sent to maiser.

2.    Make the members of the support team members of this list.

3.    The members of the list reply to both the sender and the info@domain.com.

Now when mail is received all members of the support team get a copy.

The members reply to both the list and the sender so both the sender and the list get an answer.  The support team sees the query and the answer.

Could be that the sender will get more than one answer but I've never had a sender complain that they get too many answers.

I personally use Pegasus Mail to doing this so that the canned answers can reside in the glossary and all members use the same glossary.

I tried this as well but it's not as effective as the push system.
