Very interesting information, Mo. Thanks for sharing it with us!

here is a message from my partner. We run 4.52. Not aware of anyone else having this problem. He and I use Pmail most in the office. Since theoretically I am the IT person... maybe I can have some guidance as to possible solutions.
thanks for the help.
"Andrew:
I've had a long-standing problem with Pegasus Mail where every once in a
while (unpredictably and without warning), my computer will shut down and
restart when I click either the "send/receive mail" or "receive mail"
buttons on the Pegasus Mail toolbar.
Once this problem occurs, it will persist until I have "received mail" on
another computer.
I do not know the reason for this bug, but of late it has started to
happen more often. It is now to a weekly occurrence, where it used to be
months between occurrences.
Any thoughts? Do you think this is a Pegasus problem or a problem with my
computer? If you like, I can call Pegasus technical support and deal with
them directly; I would just need their contact information from you."
ciao,
Andrew

Some threads to check:
The first one also points to a tool for tracking down crashes, but if the system itself dies I don't know whether this would work at all. BTW: What Windows version? I suspect some Win 9x? What about trying to do some connection diagnostics (see Tools => Internet Options => General => Create Internet session logs ... and the respective help entry).

Everything would only be guessing at this point in information. However there is an already built in method to discover more exact information by creating a log of all conversation between that machine and username and the mail host. Please see Help, Commandline options and the use of -z 32 flag. A *.wpm file will be created which can then be viewed in a plain text editor to search for any timeout or failure messages or failure to contact the host. This also records in plain text any password or login information so munge that portion if you send that file to anyone else.
This issue appears to not have been resolved yet. Here is a solution that worked for me with Windows XP. The power supply to my old trusted router was damaged and I had to replace it by new top of the line N-router that worked fine with all. Except for the "blue death" crash on each time I hit send on Pegasus. Mind you I was able to send via Otlook and IE Webmail. Oeyvey said I for many frustrating hours (woe is me if you know my meaning.)
This afternoonI came armed with all possible tools to save my beloved Pegasus. Once the computer crashed again and restarted, I saw the familiar message from Microsoft asking to send a report. Once for a change I let it send the report and a few seconds later a diagnostic message came back suggesting that the issue may have something to do with an outdated driver for the Intel Internal network network adapter on the machine. It gave me a link to Intel's website which put me on a diagnostic tool that told me that I have a version 8 of the driver and that the latest available driver is version 9. I was advised by the diagnostic to download and install the latest version of the driver, which I did. Sunshine came back again as to my utter amazement I watched my beloved Pegasus send with causing a crash. Noe, I am using version 4.52.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Mo
