setting up CenturyLink and/or EarthLink

The error I keep getting has to do with authentication.  No matter how I

change the security settings, it always bombs.  CenturyLink support is

no help.  Earthlink is no help.  Can YOU help me, please????

I can't seem to get either email client to work on Pegasus.  I can get them to work on IncrediMail, but don't want to USE IM as my reader.  I want Pegasus >>stomps feet<<

Are you using POP3 to try to get your email from these? How have you set up the authentication?  What is are the specific error messages you are getting?

OK, so you're getting authentication errors but is that on sending or receiving? Can you post the text of the error message? That might help us understand the exact nature of the problem.

In the meantime, can you confirm whether you are using the settings indicated on the following Earthlink page?

I note that in the step-by-step instructions for Thunderbird (the only one I checked) it DOES NOT use SSL or StartTLS.
