Hello again, Iam setting up SpamHalter. I downloaded the database from SpamHalters website and merged it with the

SpamHalter Tools.

I dont understand just how to correct SPAM and NOSPAM messages. Iam using Outlook Express.

Please correct me on how iam understanding the instructions.

When a user recieves SPAM they just forward that message, without editing, to the SPAM user?

And when a nospam email ends up in the spam, how do i get the message out of spam and forward it to the nospam?

Does every client in the mercury network need the spam and nospam user added to there accounts?

Example: Outlook Express client is default account ......somebody@nowhere.com, and nospam , spam users is 2 more accounts with this Outlook Express

client. ?

Also, when i try and forward a email from my default account to the spam user, Mercury Core Process says "Job killed by Daemon"

Is this the way a forwarded to the spam user should be handled?

Not forwarded mail since this does not affect the normal delivery process of the original message but a MOVE does take the message out of the normal delivery process.

I find it a lot easier with OE to use IMAP4 and connect to the SPAM and NOSPAM accounts.  All it takes then is a drag and drop to the INBOX of the proper account.

When using Pegasus Mail this is a lot easier since just moving it in and out of the spam local folder does this reclassification when the Mercury spamhalter.ini is in the PMail setup.

Not sure what you mean.  The forwarding without editing of mail is no different for classifying SPAM to NOSPAM.

What if i just forward the spam to spam user? This is another successful way of updating the database?

"Not sure what you mean.  The forwarding without editing of mail is no different for classifying SPAM to NOSPAM."

Here is what the instructions say in the SpamHalter........

(Corrections
Create two local mailboxes for SPAM corrections. Users can do corrections by forwarding to
these two mailboxes. They are for messages that SpamHalter incorrectly marked as spam or
incorrectly didn’t mark as spam. Real local mailboxes must be used -- aliases are not allowed!
These can be either simple local email accounts or full email addresses. When used with
SpamHalter for Pegasus Mail they must be full addresses.)

What am i misunderstanding?

SpamHalter corrections should be transferred to the spam and nospam mailboxes with as little change as possible, including headers. The forwarding alternative will usually change the sender of the message. There can be other options depending on what email client is used, called redirect or something similar.

However, if you can access the spam and nospam accounts with IMAP from your email client this will probably be the easiest and least interfering alternative, just as Thomas said.

Thanks again, Rolf & Thomas. I added a spam and nospam IMAP accounts to my Outlook Express.

Once i drag and drop emails to the spam or nospam folder, the database is updated automaticaly, right? And if so , can i then delete them from the spam nospam folders?
