Thanks for your reply.  I do go to that menu and check it, and it was because I was that I realized there was a problem:  the list under the distribution lists tab has a stack of names that I did not put there and differ from that in the menu you mention.  Perhaps there's a leftover from an earlier version of pmail?

Pmail has a global whitelisting facility, which I regularly add to. There are also under the distribution list tab lists for junkmail black and  white lists.  But the content of the whitelist found there is not the  same as that to which addresses are regularly added. Why is this, or have I missed something?  I need to know because I have installed pmail on my wife's computer and I need  to help her avoid getting a load of false positives in her junkmail folder.

I don't know why that is, but you may want to check the Global Whitelist. Go to Tools | Spam and content controls | Global whitelist. Hope this helps.
