cannot send mail

[quote user="Thomas R. Stephenson"]

I wish it was that simple, I have had my ISP work on that same issue

twice in the last month and still have not solved that problem.  Not

using the same server as James Oaksun because my ISP is AT&T.  All

they ever tell  me is we do not support Pegasus Mail, you need to

contact them and have them trouble shoot that problem.  WRONG!!

You can always provide them with a copy of the session log showing the failure.  Any real tech support type will be able to read the session log and tell you what you need to do.  This is not related to any mail client at all, this is just showing the POP3/SMTP traffic involved in the transfer.

In addition, many ISPs use many servers and the one you get with any connection is pretty random if you are using a generic host name like smtp.domain.com.  The session log will show the actual host name, it you find a server that works use that name.

 Mr. Stephenson,

Great to see you are still here and providing

very informative information.  So many other problems that have invaded

my life since my last visit, so little time to solve all of these

problems.  The ones I have on my computer are the simplest to handle and

some times can be very frustrating to solve.  Especially involving the

ISPs, as they think they are the GODs of computing and they do NO wrong.  I say they are WRONG!!  As a User Only and not versed in the special talent of programming or even any knowledge of software capabilities.  We need YOU and those like you to assist us in finding our way . . you have provided that to me any way and I am very grateful for this information.  I am a member of many forums and have learned much from these forums.

Tools/Internet Options/Create internet session log (advanced diagnostic use only) has kept me from having this done, now I will use it more to see what I may learn from the information recorded.  I am slow but hopefully this will be productive, for me anyway.

 Thank you so much,

I can no longer send mail from this account.  I get a delivery failure message saying

550-([192.168.1.101]) [74.65.135.248]:4588 is currently not permitted to relay

I am receiving mail fine.  But cannot seem to send.

Who do you use to deliver your mail?  (It will be in Internet options | Sending (SMTP)

Check with them to see if they have changed their relay method by introducing authentication or similar.

PaulW,

I wish it was that simple, I have had my ISP work on that same issue twice in the last month and still have not solved that problem.  Not using the same server as James Oaksun because my ISP is AT&T.  All they ever tell  me is we do not support Pegasus Mail, you need to contact them and have them trouble shoot that problem.  WRONG!!  The very next day all is back to normal yet it just happened again today and I spent about 2 hours in a chat session with one of their Upper Level techys that ended telling me the same thing again.  And WRONG!!  I have my Pegasus Mail v4.52 setup to handle just one account each and I have three accounts at this time.  Well have had for about 12-14 years, one is my Wife's and the other two are mine.  It seems the second one of MINE is the one they have mysteriously have picked on.  Oh before I forget it, that problem with my second account just cleared up and is working again without any changes in my system.  All ISPs just want to play the blame game on the e-mail clients that they do not support.  I tell them I have been using this client for a very long time and have not had this problem with any other ISP I have had and I have had several when still using dialup.  Plus I have been with them for about 2.5 years and this just started about a month ago.  It is still a work in progress, going to hit them with the error messages from Pegasus so they have some thing else to blame.

I know this has not HELPed with James' problem.  Just wanted to share my problem with all that read here that not always is the problem in Pegasus.  Check and recheck your settings and when you are satisfied they are correct then stand your ground.  Pegasus is very stable and a wonderful program that I for one will not change to any other as they just do not perform in the same class.  Pegasus is in a class of it's own and has so many features that all of the other e-mail clients put together cannot compare.

Thank you for reading my ramblings and allowing me to do a dump on this forum,

Provide a copy of a session log for analysis since they are saying that you are trying to relay.  .   If nothing else the session log will give yuo something to talk to the ISP ablout when they say they have changed nothing.  ;-)
