Well yeah. I didn't work for me. Probably because my old computer has Windows XP and my new has  Win 7 Home Premium....
No, I've got the same configuration and it worked without any problems. But it didn't work for me isn't enough information for providing any further hints, can you please specify what you did and what doesn't work?

I tries sending an email with (I guess) some large attachment files.  It took a long time and seemed to hang.  I stopped the send (I think by exiting from pmail.  Now upon trying to open pmail I get the usual message that it is (or was) opened by another user and to click continue I do that and Win 7 gives me a message that it cannot open pmail i.e "Pegasus Mail for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close".  .  I am using 4.52.  Sorry is the answer is in a forum somewhere.  Thanks for the help.

Move all of the *.CNM files out of the new mail directory and try again.  It should now open normally.  You can then put the messages back one at a time until you find the problem message.

It's probably going to be a really large message.  If you are using content control then I'd recommend that you set a limit on the message size so you are not scanning these large files with encoded attachments.

1.    Use  Tools | Spam and content controls | Content control...

2.    Select and edit the control definition

3.    Select the "Message tests" tab.

4.    Enter 8000 in "Check at most this many bytes in each message"

Thank you very much - woked like a charm!! - I have used this solution before but thought that because I was trying to send large attachments, the solution would be different.  I suppose this solution is a standard one for a crash.

The CNM file causing the problem was a zero byte file which I simply deleted.  I am curious how I got it, whay I got it, and to see any information contained in it, but cannot fine anyway to look at it.

I also took the opportunity to clean up and delete (save to HDD) all large attachments so new mail folder is reduced in size.  Need to do that for other folders I suppose.

 Anyway - thanks again.

This zero byte file is causing Spamhalter to crash and the OS also takes down Pegasus Mail.  You need to upgrade Spamhalter.

Well, I tried that and removed every *.cnm-file from the "New mail"-directory but the problem is not solved. Pegasus won't start!

 How do I contiune?

Very strange this....

I followed the suggested adwises in your link.

1. I tried to move some files from the mail folder (*.pmx, *.pno and *.pmo) but without success.

2. I downloaded new files (conv.dll and conv.dll.sig) and put them in the mail folder, but without success.

3. I downloaded your minidump extension and tried to install it on my computer but I didn't succeed due to Pegasus was running at my computer (sic). I tried to uninstall Pegasus from my computer but still the mindump extension clamed that Pegasus was running at my computer. I retried this and restarted my computer a couple of times but still no sucess. The minidump clamed that Pegasus was running at my computer.

Then I installed Pegasus again and now it suddenly worked and I can use Pegasus without any problems. Although I did one thing different: I put Pegasus at C:\Pmail this time. Before I hade put it in the folder C:\Program\Pegasus.... But is this really that caused my problems? In my old computer I hade Pegasus in the folder: C:\Program\Pegasus

 Any explanations about this?

Now when my Pegasus is working I have one question:

I would like to transfer my old mails from my old computer to the new, but how?

There's an issue with the installer not finding WINPM-32.EXE due to UAC issues, I'll upload a fixed version now.

Yes, this is exactly the issue and there's a warning here, some additional information here.
