Hyphen in email address breaks hyperlink in Cc?

Paul and Olaf,
Thanks for you replies and tests!
The only 'real' problem or error occurs when you try to lift that hyphenated email address out of that malformatted address entry (with out < ... >) e.g. using right mouse button. ... By the way, this is the first time I have noticed it in all the years [;)] ... but just wanted to mention it.
Cheers

Not sure whether this was mentioned before but it seems that when an email address has an hyphen in the name the hyperlink is broken or truncated ignoring the first part till the hyphen. This seems to apply to addresses in the Cc field only.

Example: <joe-someone@hixxx.xx> turns into <someone@hixxx.xx>

If the email is at the end of the line, the line break is after the hyphen - logically I guess.

Anyone seen this before.

Cheers

Thomas

As I remember, Pegasus will 'hyphenate' in every addressfield at a hyphen, if a linebreak is needed at that point of addresslist for optimal showing these fields in an opend mail. It's a bug. There should be no hyphenating due to hyphen in addressfields.

Thanks Olaf,

The funny thing was that I never noticed the hyphening wrap in combination with the truncating of the email address before. This even my email address has a hyphen and I frequently add my email address into the Cc ...

So I checked again and have to slightly correct my statement. You (and me) are right that the hyphen adds a line wrap after the hyphen. However my statement was not entirely correct as to the split and truncating of the email address hyperlink. I checked the email header and that particular email had the email address in the Cc not enclosed in < ...>. However, PM seemed to have recognised it as an email address and added a hyperlink but omitting the section before the hyphen. I guess that it is related to malformatted email message? (by the way, not sent by PM).

The header section looks like (just changed the names and adjusted to the above example):

...
Subject: Re: This is the Subject line
Cc: "Mike" <mike@someplace.xxx.xx>,
    "Paul" <paul@somedomain.xxx.xx>,
    joe-someone@hixxx.xx
...

However, doing a normal reply to all Cc recipents will include the email address giving an address line

"Mike" <mike@someplace.xxx.xx>, "Paul" <Paul@somedomain.xxx.xx>, joe-someone@hixxx.xx

To my understanding it should still go out correctly also to joe-someone@hixxx.xx ?

Cheers

Thomas

Yes, I've never had any problem sending to names with hyphens.  The formatting of the message is usually quite independent to the actual routing that takes place.

Hallo Thomas,

just tested this with PM452 and a very long TO-field and identical CC-field. Bug takes place in both fields. The hyphenation depends on the width of your messagewindow and is for optical reasons - normal behavior. If relevant mailaddress is in brackets (<>), hyphenation will take place but the URL is correctly clickable. Mailaddress without brackets will be hyphenated URL is broken.

If you use the normal replydialog, the mailaddresses are simply copied correctly and mails are sent if the mailaddresses have brackets or not.
