Confused about bearHtml
Many thanks.  At least I know now how I can toggle between the two.  Not sure which is actually best for me -- both throw errors in different circumstances.
You know that you can easily toggle via IEControl's toolbar button menu? There's no need for installing and uninstalling IEControl, it will just forward calls to Martin's version if turning it off via the button menu. And please report any errors you encounter so we can fix them.
Both give me similar troubles with some html-encoded emails -- cutting off the display  before the end of the html.  Quite consistent with email from a particular web-based email generator. Still investigating what might be triggering this behaviour. Wish me luck!  :-)
Pegasus Mail itself is most probably responsible for this as it truncates lines at a certain lenght when submitting them to the HTML renderer - at least that's what I remember. You may forward such a message (preferably the zipped CNM file from the new mail foilder) to me for testing, though, but make sure the CNM file doesn't contain truncated lines to begin with (open IEControl's About ... dialog for sending an email to me).

I seem to have multiple versions of bearhtml.dll in C:/pmail,  C:/pmail/programs, and C:/pmail/mail directories.  They have various lengths and some variation in extension -- bearhtml.dll.bear, bearhtml.bck, bearhtml.dll.  Most recently, I downloaded and installed what appeared to be the latest and greatest version.  Now I get all sorts of errors and aborts when opening various emails.  Most emails display OK, but about 10% throw errors.

I want to "clean up" my Pmail installation.  What is the best way to do this?  What is the latest, stable version of bearhtml.dll?  How does IEcontrol relate to bearhtml?  What existing files do I want to delete?  I suppose I could just reinstall the 4.52 Pmail (win32) version, but this would seem like cheating.  :-)  Suggestions, anyone?

Thanks!

You should only have a single BearHtml.dll located in C:/pmail/programs, bearhtml.bck may either be a backup you created or a backup of a log file which you can tell after trying to open it in NotePad (if so this one can safely be deleted). bearhtml.dll.bear is a backup of Martin's BearHtml.dll created when installing IEControl so you can switch between both, and it would be restored if uninstalling IEControl. This post explains some of the issues, especially that updating Martin's bearhtml.dll manually requires to reinstall IEControl as otherwise there might be trouble because neither version might work properly.

IOW:

 1. BearHtml.dll files are supposed to be only located in Pegasus Mail's executable directory (the one containing WINPM-32.EXE);
 2. The same applies to bearhtml.dll.bear after installing IEControl;
 3. All other BearHtml.xxx file should either be text or HMTL files.

Many thanks.  At least I know now how I can toggle between the two.  Not sure which is actually best for me -- both throw errors in different circumstances.

Both give me similar troubles with some html-encoded emails -- cutting off the display  before the end of the html.  Quite consistent with email from a particular web-based email generator. Still investigating what might be triggering this behaviour. Wish me luck!  :-)
