internet options changing on their own
Good idea, but no change.
Maybe the respective definition file (*.PND) is simply read-only for whatever reason?

In internet options, the receive options are set for clearing mail from server and not downloading only unread mail and in the sending options it is set to not use CRAM-MD5.

When I shut down and reopen, these options will be changed.  This is a new development. I Have been using 4.51 for some time with no problem until this suddenly started happening. How can I stop this from happening? Any and all help appreciated.

I doubt they are changed, this is most probably caused by not saving current changes so they are simply reset to the previous values: Sounds like either an access rights issue or a silent crash on shutdown. What Windows version? Did you change file or directory access rights recently? User access control changes (on Windows 7 or Vista)? Where's your new mail directory located (see Help => About Pegasus Mail => Info => New mailbox location)? Possible anti-virus scanner issue?

Running 98SE so it should not be an admin problem. New mail is in C:\pmail. When I redo the parts that were changed I see no place to permanently save other than just hitting OK as i have always done in the past.

What about an AV-scanner? Try without on-access (background) scanning just to see whether this changes anything ...
