how to make window settings sticky ?

I didn't but did make a fresh back-up of STATE.PMJ  [Y]

I can live with it ...

If I crack a solution I'll post it here.

 Cheers!

I am using Pegasus 4.52.

Whenever the program is closed and restarted, the main mail window list pane does not hold its setting and reverts from my own settings to the default as show in the attached pic.

Does anyone know if there is a way around this to make the window setting 'sticky'?

 Rgds

What settings: Window size and position? Pane sizes? Column widths?
Hi - its the column widths that won't stay as set ...
Enabling Tools => Options => Preview mode settings => Remember and apply each folder's sorting mode separately might help.

I tried that but no luck. No matter what I do the settings revert to the program default. Guess I'm stuck with it until a fix is introduced.

Cheers for the replies.

Are other changes of options and settings sticky? This sounds like your STATE.PMJ file cannot be written to. Is it read-only for whatever reason? If not: What's you Windows version? Where did you install Pegasus Mail to? See this post for OS related issues.

I have installed to C:\PMAIL - I have always had the prog installed there for the past 10 years and its been fine. All other sticky settings seem fine and the STATE.PMJ file is read/write.

Tis a mystery.

Actually same problem here..

Funny enough the settings worked well on Win7, but on XP they seem to be unable to configure.....

Moi has pegasus in C:\PMAIL as per instructions, I may try 4.4v and see if that makes any difference..

Make sure the window is not maximized and then make the changes and exit the program.  I suspect the changes will be retained when next run.

I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate. I've tried everything, including holding down SHIFT on exiting and also holding down CTRL+SHIFT on exit but nothing seems to make the setting hold. The columns just go back to their previous (default) setting.

AFAIK Vista applies the same restrictions as Windows 7 with regard to user access control, so here's the question: Does your STATE.PMJ file (in your mailbox directory) ever get updated while/after running Pegasus Mail? IOW: Does Pegasus Mail store its folder related configuration properly?

Haha - this is becoming a Pandora's Box [H]

Questions answered: Checking the properties of STATE.PMJ; it does appear to update according to the timestamps on the file. Also yes the folder configuration does retain its user settings - its only the column widths on the main mail display window that is obstinate.

Incidentally I use a boot program that switches Access Control off at boot time and also kills the Vista requirement for Microsoft approved programs etc.

The whole thing is not a major issue, only a nuisance. I have used all email programs with the exeption of just a few and I must say with no hesitation that Pegasus puts the lot of them in the shade.

Kind Rgds

You might try again after removing/renaming the existing file (after closing Pegasus Mail) - keeping in mind that it'll reset all other customizations, just for testing ...

removed state.pmj and still it reverts to default settings even after minimising the window and

ammending widths etc

Unfortunately deleted v4.4 so am unable to test, I may have to check my old brick of a laptop

and see if it is hidden in there somewhere....

If win 7 was ok why would XP be any different...hmmm

Are you sure that you are not running with maximized windows when trying to do the saving?  You can have a window fully enlarged via Tile and save but column widths are not saved when a window is maximized.
