AW: moving Pegasus to new machine - does not work

[quote user="Michele"]

The program itself is in the C drive (C:\pmail) - Any other ideas?

Update on the old WIN-XP PC the user Pmail installation (witch is in C:\pmail) to Pmail V4.52. Then copy the complete pmail - folder with all subfolders and files to the new WIN-7 PC to C:\ and make a shortcut from C:\PMAIL\Programs winpm-32.exe to the desktop from the new PC.

We recently upgraded from windows xp to windows 7.

I installed Pegasus on the new machines and copied over the "mail" directory for each user.  Of the 12 machines I did - 4 did not work.  I used the same flash drive to move the files, I installed Pegasus then copied in the mail directory - in these 4 problem cases Pegasus will open and none of the messages, address books, etc I copied over will be there.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing - installing an earlier version of Pegasus - moving the mail directory - I've run out of ideas.

Any help is appreciated.

Michele

Sounds like where Pegasus Mail thinks the mailbox should be and where you actually copied the files are different.  On the problem installs, go to Help | About Pegasus Mail then click on the Info button.  Look for theHome and New mailbox location paths.  This will be where Pegasus thinks the mailbox should be.  If you copied the files to a different location you can try telling Pegasus Mail where the mailbox folder is by going to Tools | Options | Mailbox location and specifying the path to the mailbox folder.  Don't bother with the move mailbox contents option.  Last I knew it didn't work.

One other thought.  If any of the machines are running Windows7 Pegasus Mail won't work if installed in the Program Files folder.  Windows7 restricts modifications to files in the Program Files folder and its subfolders.

The program itself is in the C drive (C:\pmail) - not under the programs folder

and the mail folder is  C:\pmail\mail

I checked the virtual drives in windows and there are no Pegasus related files.

Any other ideas?  My boss now wants to switch to outlook - and I'd rather not...

thanks

Michele
