Rogue messages in New Mail folder every 3-4 seconds, undeletable ...

Hello again, Thomas ...

Well, I decided to go ahead and rename the two *.CNM files. And that did the trick, as, after I re-opened Pegasus, no rogue messages appeared. I was able to download new messages without difficulty, and several new *.CNM files were created.

I imagine that the two *.CNM files were corrupt or damaged somehow.

Thanks for your help ...

Regards

Kenneth Spencer

I have used Pegasus Mail for well over 10 years, through its various versions. However today I have encountered a serious problem.

My New Mail folder is receiving a pair of new message each 2-3 seconds. They cannot be deleted. They cease if the New Mail folder is closed, but recommence as soon as it is opened. The messages are of the form:

From                     Subject                      Date/Time                   Size
Rv                          |inQ                                                                22-4k

The content is:
The message contains binary or non-textual data that cannot be previewed within Pegasus Mail.

Filename: Unknown

You can work with this file in the Reader's Attachments page.

An urgent solution to this problem would be very much appreciated!

 Kenneth Spencer.

My guess is that your anti-virus software is fighting PMail for access to the mail as it is being downloaded.  PMail downloads a message and tries to save the CNM file and the anti-virus software grabs it since it thinks it has a virus.  Stop the anti-virus software to see if this fixes the problem.  If so use VirScan instead of scanning the PMail mail directories.

Thankyou Thomas for the reply. Having read and tried your suggestions, both in the forum response and your second email, my comments are:

1. I am sure it isn't my anti-virus software, nor is it Windows Defender, as the problem persists whether either or both is turned on or off;

2. This problem occurs whether or not Pegasus is set to Online, so I don't actually think that it is trying to download anything;

3.  I always use File -> Selective Mail Download and this problem persists even when the server is clear.

Can you tell me - can I delete the two *.CNM files?

Can't you go to the the new mail directory using "My computer" and delete the *.CNM files?
