IEControl on multiuser install?

Tried IEControl at home last night.  Am very pleased with the display of some html messages that had required viewing in a browser.  Not sure I'm ready at the office for the administrative overhead of the separate bearhtml.ini file in each users mailbox directory though.  Will be giving more thought to that.

I see that one of the options accessible by the IEControl toolbar button is a Use

IEControl option.  How does this option work on a multiuser install?

Our Pegasus Mail executable folder is a hidden folder but all users have

Write permissions which has me wondering if a user can disable

IEControl for all users by turning off Use IEControl.

Also, must IE be the default browser for IEControl to work or must it simply be installed.

Is this required for anything?

If the above is true they can. But if you put a copy of BearHtml.ini into any user's (home) mailbox directory it takes precedence over the global one and the latter cannot be modified by these users anymore. (I'm just rethinking whether it would be better to place it into their newmail directory (which won't currently work) as you can only have a single one and it cannot be changed or "multiplied" like the home mailbox directory - so this may still be subject to change).

The libraries installed by IE must be available, the IE application itself isn't even required nor needs to be the default browser.

Goes back many years but I recall a recommendation that a network install like ours requires users to have write permissions to the executable folder and full permissions to all users newmail folders.

I lost you.  Are you saying that a copy of the Beahtml.ini in each users home mailbox directory (which is the same as their newmail directory) will take precedence over the one in the executable directory?

What exactly happens when IEControl is disabled?  Is it disabled for the open message only or for all messages until it is enabled?  Is there any HTML rendering when it's disabled?

 Gotcha.

Yes.

It's disabled for all messages until being reenabled. The result is a fallback to the original version, i.e. Martin Ireland's BearHtml (unless it had been removed - in this case HTML rendering will not be available as Pegasus Mail doesn't fall back to using its built-in TER renderer, unfortunately - I'm sure this will get solved when IEControl becomes part of Pegasus Mail, though).
