Configuring Pegasus

Well, guys, I'm outta here. My reasons for changing mailers have dissipated, and I just don't have time right now to fool with it. Thanks for all the help. Maybe some other time. You guys are the best!

I don't see many messages concerning getting Pegasus configured. The Help files contain a wealth of data, but somehow none or very little of it appears to apply to the Pegasus mailer as I have it installed! For example, under "Creating a POP3 definition", I find the header  "Settings on the General page of the definitions editor", but for the life of me I can't find anything like this in Tools/Identities, or anywhere else. It's all very confusing. I think my problem (Socket timeout) has to do with port settings, but I can't locate anyplace where I can change them (our POP server uses 995, and smtp uses 587). Help!

Double-click your POP3 definition, see screenshot:

Thanks. The light dawns! I'm still having trouble with SMTP, but I'll post a question here if I don't get it solved by myself.

I've got Pegasus "working" now, i.e., it "sends" and "fetches" mail, but nothing happens (ergo the quotes in this message). That is, when I send a message to myself, P. reports that the message was sent, but it never appears on the server. Also, if there are messages on the server waiting to be downloaded, P. goes through the motions, but does not download the messages. Eudora and Thunderbird work just fine. The sent messages just vanish into thin air.

Turn on session logging in Tools | Internet Options | General to determine if WinPMail is actually connecting to the POP3 and SMTP hosts.  If you need help post the resulting session logs here after munging the password in the file.

Here's the session log for sending a test message:

Sun, 11:12:31    Loading local legacy folders from cache file...
Sun, 11:12:31    Spamhalter bayesian plugin 4.5.0.165 started.
Sun, 11:12:31    WARNING! Spamhalter not found folder for Spam!
Sun, 11:12:31    Spamhalter message size limit is: 250000 bytes
Sun, 11:12:31    Program started
Sun, 11:13:09    SMTP delivery to '<my.email.address>', 'test'
Sun, 11:13:10    Message sent to '<my.email.address>', 'test'

Could the problem have something to do with Spamhalter?

PS: Why doesn't "System Messages" allow me to Select All? I had to do this one line at a time.

As you state yourself this isn't a session log but the "System Messages" which doesn't help here. As Thomas wrote you need to go to Tools => Internet Options => General and turn on session logging which will create a log file for each connection attempt in your home mailbox directory (to be found via Help => About Pegasus Mail => Info), please read the online help (click the help button on the General page pointed to above) for details.
