Strange problem under Windows 7 Starter
Sounds like something is holding these open or you do not have full rights to the files.  With Win7 User Access Control it's quite possible that you do not have the rights to delete these files in the protected "Program files" directory.
At least when running as admin you can do so, but you'd still have to confirm the permission request for doing so.

Hi everybody

I tried installing Pegasus w32 v.4.52 (the newest) on an Acer netbook with Windows 7 Starter, but when I try to start Pegasus from the shortcut on the Desktop or from the Start-menu, it shows the opening-window for a fraction of a second then it disappears and nothing more happens. Does anyone have any idea about what is happening? Could it be the Norton Internet Security 2011 Firewall?

Best regards,

Henrik Rosenø

Some issues to check, some other issues.

Thank you!

Reinstalling it in C:\PEGASUSMAIL\ instead of C:\Program Files\... helped.

But the uninstall-process didn't delete all the files, neither after windows restart.

The uninstall of Pegasus Mail does not remove any user data.  You have to manually delete the directories containing configuration and user data.

I did (of course) try to delete the rest manually, but there are still about 40 files, one in MAIL and the rest in Programs, that cannot be deleted because of "write protected", "system file" etc., all in all 459KB.

Sounds like something is holding these open or you do not have full rights to the files.  With Win7 User Access Control it's quite possible that you do not have the rights to delete these files in the protected "Program files" directory.
