Pegasus in Ubuntu 10.10

Looks like you need to adjust the command line to make it run properly.  This is not unique to Ubuntu 10.10 though.

My command line to run PMail is env WINEPREFIX="/home/thomas/.wine" wine C:\\pmail461\\Programs\\WINPM-32.EXE -A -MS

The -A says to not look for Netware the -MS allows me to run many instances of PMail.

PS  The pmail.usr file is located at c:\pmail461\mail and the single user mailbox is at c:\pmail\mail\admin.

I've been running Pegasus Mail 4.51 (in Windows) using the -roam option on the command line. I've had no problems running the application either on the hard drive or on a USB stick.

Recently I installed Ubuntu 10.10. I copied my Pmail directory from the USB stick to the Ubuntu Desktop. From the /Desktop/Pmail/Programs directory, I ran:  wine winpm-32.exe -roam

Result: a dialogue box popped up prompting me for a Pegasus Mail user name. Is this some kind of Netware thing? I've never run in Netware mode, and don't know anything about it. I tried entering "Admin" and a few other user names, to no avail.

Then I tried running winpm-32.exe again in the same directory, but without the "-roam" parameter.

Result: To my surprise, it worked. The fonts were too small, but the folders were all there and Pegasus Mail seemed fully functional. The only problem was that Pegasus was using the files on the USB stick, instead of the files on the Desktop, where I was running it from.

How do I get Pegasus to run from the directory I want it to run from, and why is it asking for a user name?

It's a question I'm also eagerly awaiting an answer to before switching to 10.10...

Have you tried putting the -I parameter into the command line? Maybe that will stop it asking for a username.

I believe that the -roam parameter merely causes drive letters that differ from that on which the .exe is stored, to be ignored. When leaving the -roam part out, you'll have to make sure that the ini files on your desktop use the appropriate paths. Perhaps. Never tried Wine or Pegasus on Linux, so I might be talking rubbish and the problem is elsewhere!
