Thanks a lot for your help!

I guess my attempts will be to install Pegasus to a different location as soon as I get my own computer back (everything taking a while since it happened at work...). Then I'll try the things you mentioned. Really strange with the still appearing files...

In case nothing will work out, I'll come back to it. Thanks again! :)

Hey you all,

due to a HD failure on my computer I had to install Pegasus on a new laptop. I managed to copy the MAIL folder from the old HD, not the Programs folder, though. After installing Pegasus, I simply copied the MAIL folder on the same location. Things worked out more or less, just information on the mail account got lost as well as the hierarchy of my mail folders. I managed to repair all of that. However, 7 already read e-mails were in the New Mail Folder when I copied the mails. Now I cannot delete them anymore. Whenever I try to move them to another folder, it just creates a copy in the folder it was intended to be moved to.

Having read the forum, I played around with some files and deleted the .cnm files. Unfortunately, it didn't result in having them deleted in the New Mail Folder. Actually, nothing changed beside the fact that these files are gone, the mails stayed, though.

So, does anyone of you have any idea of how to repair that considerably annoying thing? I just hope you do! When copying Pegasus next time, I hope I'll manage to copy all of it! :) Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi idw,

thanks for the fast reply. Well, too late now, I of course installed it to the Program path (in the German Windows 7 version though). However, I do have admin rights on the laptop. It lets me do what I want although it sometimes requires some tricks (I edited a file for testing, it didn't want to let me save it. I saved it to another place, copied it into the folder, deleted the other one and renamed the new one... - the result was neglectable, unfortunately).

However, where is the information about the new mail folder located? The .cnm files are obviously not everything!

Any further input is warmly welcomed! Thanks so far! :)

Yours,

schoolio

PS: For some reason my browser doesn't like quoting... :(

I'm sorry, but this won't work, you'll run into lots of problems nevertheless as Pegasus Mail will not be able to write any of its data if the mailboxes are located in a branch of a Program Files directory unless you run it with admin rights itself which creates a security hole as it would allow any malware coming within emails or attachments from using admin rights as well. Additonally you won't be able to copy and paste in data or use SendTo and MAPI file transfer to Pegasus Mail if the originating software doesn't run with elevated rights as well. I didn't provide the related information for fun, it's a really serious issue!

There's only a single way around this: Reinstall Pegasus Mail with your mailboxes located in a path not below any Program Files path. Relocation of mailboxes using PCONFIG.EXE might not work easily either as the latter is a 16bit application which won't work on Windows 7 unless being the 32bit version or using an additional software like DOSbox (search for other posts on this issue if you're interested).

And with regard to new mails: There is nothing else than the CNM files required for Pegasus Mail displaying them, if they are still there you've deleted files from the wrong directory, check Help => About Pegasus Mail => Info => New mailbox location for the real path.
