add custom header

[quote user="Thomas R. Stephenson"]

Might want to check for another header that is specific for mail forwarded without editing from "spambucket" e-mail address.

Thanks Thomas. That's an easier way of doing it.

Is there some way to configure Pegasus so that whenever I forward mail a custom header gets added?

I have an account 'spambucket' into which Mercury put mails that violate my content control rules. Occasionally, some valid mail get put there and then I manually forward it to its intended recipient. I thought that if I could get Pegasus to add a custom header I could look for that in my content control rules and allow through any mail having that header,

Richard

You can use this extension to add special headers to any message you send.

 HEADERS.DLL
X-Header Extension for Pegasus Mail (win32)

Automatically adds 4 extra message headers to outgoing messages.

Also works with the Identities feature of Pegasus Mail 3.0 and later.

Freeware. Freely redistributable.

Thanks for your reply Thomas.

Does anyone have a current link for this zip?

http://www.grt.net.tt/grt/headers.zip is dead.

Sure is, I can send you a copy of the utility though.   Send me a message to the e-mail address below and I'll send it to you.

Thanks for the zip Thomas.

However, it doesn't work for me.

I've put headers.dll & headers.fff into C:\PMAIL\Programs

and headers.pm into C:\PMAIL\MAIL

All I get is some extra headers like this:

X-LINE1: ABCDEF0123456789

I'm using  Pegasus 4.52 and have tried on both XP sp3 and  Win 2000 sp4.

That's what it does - can't you can filter that in Content Control?

What I mean is that it adds a header like

X-LINE1: ABCDEF0123456789

irrespective of what I tell it to do in headers.pm

Although I don't know how this extension actually works I doubt that C:\PMAIL\MAIL is the proper location for this file, it should probably go into the respective user's home or new mailbox directory which is usually below C:\PMAIL\MAIL, i.e. something like C:\PMAIL\MAIL\UserName.

Thanks  Michael, yes that was the problem. I had headers.pm in the wrong place.

However, experimenting, it only adds custom headers for new mails. They don't get added to mails 'forwarded without editing'.

So, although it's fun to play with, it doesn't solve my initial problem, of wanting to redirect mails, mistakenly caught in my 'spambucket' account, to the intended recipient, without them simply getting caught a second time by my content control rules.

Thanks again for your help.

Might want to check for another header that is specific for mail forwarded without editing from "spambucket" e-mail address.  I can't remember exactly how this header looks but send one you yourself and look through them.
