Runtime error 216 at 021C00BD

No, there isn't, sorry. And to be exact: I don't know how many people see exactly this runtime error you encounter, but Pegasus Mail usually just crashes if doing what you did (runtime error 216 is actually an access violation which is usually converted into a fatal exception; why it occurs this way or the other is beyond my knowledge).

Just installed the new version and get Runtime error 216 at 021C00BD. No change to close it, completely locked, and have to delete it in TaskManager.

Can anyone help with ideas how to solve it?

When do you get this error (i.e. what did you or Pegasus Mail do when it appears)?

Unfortunately this error message doesn't show which module causes it (really one of the most useless error messages I've ever seen). Can you please install the MiniDump extension and run the Snapshot shortcut from its Start menu group when the error occurs (please see its ReadMe file for details)?

As Pegasus Mail doesn't start you'll have to check your system's temporary files folder for a CAB or DMP file with a filename like 2011-02-01#05-06-27.CAB or 2011-02-01#05-06-27.DMP, please send it to beta-reports[at]pmail.gen.nz including a note about this issue so I can associate it to this thread.

If you don't know the location of your TEMP folder right-click the (My) Computer desktop icon and select Properties => Advanced (System) Settings => Environment Variables (names may be different on your system, this is translated from a German Windows 7) and search for the TEMP or TMP entries.

I have tried your suggestion. Th edebugger is running and showing the picture with Pegasus Mail Exception (access violation) in the header, the field with the mail address where to send the email.

A field with "Short description for email message ..."

And at the bottom "Save dump file", "Send report" and "cancel"

Save dump gives an empty file "2011-02-28#14-29-07.dmp" (tried several times) and then it close. By using Send report th eerror coems up an dby Ok on that it closes.

/Bendt

Did you check again after the latter whether another DMP or CAB file exists larger than zero bytes size? If not there isn't much that can be done other than trying some of the suggestions found in this thread about removing certain files.

Berndt, in general it isn't the best idea to post these files in a public forum as they might contain personal information (such as passwords) - which isn't the case here, but please be careful on future occasions: MiniDump's ReadMe file contains my email address (and the official report address) which you may botth use these purposes.

Now I would like you to try again (using MiniDump) after removing (deleting) the file MAILBOXP.LCK from your Pegasus Mail user's mailbox directory (usually something like C:\PMAIL\MAIL\[UserName]) as the crash dump only indicates that Pegasus Mail crashes when opening the dialog notifying about the existence of the file (the "Mailbox locked" message shown when restarting Pegasus Mail after a crash).

Runtime Error 216 occurs on my systems whenever I shut Pegasus Mail when it is doing a round of POP3 checks. Never occurs between checks, only when it is partway through checking my collection of email servers.

Not sure of the location though, I never bother to check, this error is one of those things I expect to happen.
