You are great!  Now I'm happy!  I got the desired result by following your instructions to reach Formatting and use of styling ...  Then I removed checks from ALL the boxes.  Eureka!  It worked.  Thank you.

After upgrading to v4.61 I'm missing buttons/icons all over Pegasus. Most notable is the upper toolbar.


 I'm on Windows XP SP3.

Is there a directory called C:\PMAIL\Programs\PNG containing 200 image (PNG) files?

Yes there is. With exactly 200 files. In another thread I've read about the right-click-mouse trick; changing to text and after that back to graphics. It doesn't work in my case because the right click doesn't work on that toolbar.  Also I've checked all .png files in a file manager. They are viewable.

I can only imagine a resources issue: Are always the same buttons missing after restarting Pegasus Mail? Did you try whether a system reboot helps? Do you encouter any other problems when working with Pegasus Mail (as far as it's possible in such a situation)?

Yes, it are always the same buttons missing. System reboot doesn't help. The tool tips are visible and the program/buttons are, as far I can see, function normally. Did also a fresh install. Didn't help either. My laptop has 1 GB of memory and 64 MB of video memory. Had never before any problems with displaying graphics.
Attached another example of missing buttons in the compose screen:

Your description and your screen shot match exactly  a win7 or other 64bit OS using winpm-32  from version 4.51 which was fixed when running 4.52 and now 4.61. Do you have more than one version in more than one drive location? The other  problem I have seen is a doubled install with program files in c:\pmail and c:\pmail\programs

Would you please verify doing properties on winpm-32.exe what version it is and search for that file name and see how many are found and where they are. Do same for winpm-32.dat and see date and size also. Is it 1/27/11 date in properties?

reading this brings the following curiosity to my mind:

On WinXPproSP3 I installed the program versions of PMail by and by in different directories, but the mailbox directory always remains to D:\PMAIL\MAIL\...

When I look for the program files like WINPM-32.EXE I discover this:

C:\Programme\PMAIL44\Programs
C:\Programme\PMAIL45\Programs\Programs
C:\Programme\PMAIL46\Programs\Programs

I'm quite shure I didn't want this double "Programs" structure. It must be happened when I did the update and decided to choose a different location than the existing directory. I think I changed the name in the edit field.

Just some days ago for installation of PMAIL46 I changed the entry from "C:\Programme\PMAIL45\Programs\Programs" to "C:\Programme\PMAIL46\Programs" to leave this structure - but it ends the same way...

So maybe this description helps solving the original problem. And maybe someone detects the culprit for this strange installation attitude.

I don't exactly know how Pegasus Mail's installer works, but most installers auto-append their path to the one selected by the user. And I think there's indeed some reason for getting confused about the final location as Pegasus Mail claims to be installed to Pegasus Mail's  \Programs\ subdirectory (as shown on the installation screen) although you would usually only select the base directory (C:\PMAIL in the suggested default path) while Pegasus Mail automatically creates the required subdirectories.

Normally the English word used is programs which is 8 chars and the default path is normally c:\pmail and executables in c:\pmail\programs  Have you run PCONFIG to check or reset paths? Have you substituted ~n in place of ~8

At this point I really think it would be best to save your data and zip it up and do a clean fresh install to default c:\pmail and then run and test. If all works ok then we can go through the details of how to restore your saved messages to correct path and location.There will not even be any need to run PCONFIG with a default install.

I don't think so, his notes could have been helpful here if you had parallel installs as well and only updated one of these which you didn't actually use - although this should affect all new buttons, of course ...

Just to let you know that one of our French translators found a possible cause and suggested a possible solution, so all is not lost!

Operating system, sp version, ram, video adapter, resolution and number of colors.

This is needed to try to find a solution to repeat the problem to test some solutions...

Could you try to deactivate (or reduce progressively from 5 to 0) the hardware acceleration of your graphic adapter and see what happens?

BTW: do you use the ATI driver or a MS one?
