Betreft: Pegasus won't talk to me SOLVED

Most computerproblems reside between keyboard and bureauchair ;-)

LOL. This kind of error is known as PEBKAC - Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair. I think you should try and blame your partner, children or pet rather than admit to any mistake on your part!

Very happy

with the new version 4.61! For several years I have been using Pegasus now.

But as

before my Pegasus 4.61 keeps silent when new mail arrives. No sound, no

flapping wings and no telltale window (though all chosen in the options,

together or one by one). Not in 3-pane mode, nor in classic mode. Searched this

forum for solutions but not found any. Tried several settings. For me the only

way to know if new mail arrived is to keep the new-mailfolder constantly open. Filtering

your mail seems to disable the reporting, but as far as I know I have not any

filters defined (anymore). Probably some settings at my system (Vista Home

Premium sp2) are blocking this... Any ideas?

How many messages do you have in your new mail folder?

If there are too many there is no automatic scan - which probably stops the alerts from triggering as well.

Only some 40 messages, so that shouldn't be the problem. I know it's wise to keep it as small as possible.

Can it be that an old filter (I once tried it out, defining a filter) on the new-mailfolder still hangs around, although it doesn't do anything and doesn't show up in de filter-defining window? I understood that the new-mailfolder is some special thing, not a 'normal' folder.

If the new messages are going to the new mail folder then there can't be a filter interferring.  (The new mail folder is just a collection of individual .cnm files.)

It may be something to do with your installation - is it 64-bit Vista?

Problem solved. My Peg-setting Options/Advanced settings/Refresh new mail folder every... was set to -1 (for some reason in my computer pre-history ) so Pegasus never 'checked' its own new mail folder and couldn't be aware of new mail... Setting this to 10 secs solved the problem.
