 I have resoled my problem and thank  you both very much. It took some doing but finally removed those folders.

I will however have to adjust the organization of the trays to where I want them BUT bottom line it IS accomplished

Quite some time ago I named two folders Delete 1 & Delete 2. Its been so long I think I must have been sorting material

into folders I wanted them to go into. Anyway they have have nothing in them and have had nothing in them.

I want to get rid of them. Whenever I wanted to delete a folder before there was always a safety message asking if I really

wanted  to delete which was great BUT on these two folders when trying  to delete, I get the safety message and I check

the box giving approval I get following message:

You have asked to delete a tray file which still contains folders. Please delete or move all folders from the tray

before attempting to delete it." It's frustrating because no information is in either one of theml. I cannot even find any folder

information when checking any internal information. I have just left alone because they weren't bothering anything but now

I really DO want to get rid of them. Any ideas?

The program is telling you that these are not folders but are trays and the trays are not empty according to the hierarch.pm.  It's quite possible that the hierarch.pm has folders in the trays that are not showing up in the folder listing.   The first thing I would do is try  the following procedure.  

1.    Use Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info to determine your mail directory.  Exit Pegasus mail.  

2.     Go to the HOME mail directory and copy the file HIERARCH.PM to an different directory so that you can recover if you have problems.

3.    Open the HIERARCH.PM for editing in Notepad and remove all lines ending in "Name_Unavailable".  Save and exit Notepad

4.    Run WinPMail.  

5.    Try again to delete the two trays.  

If this does not work get back to us.

I've followed your suggestion in its entirety and still am unable to delete and they still remain. I printed out on a separate sheet just to make sure I did everything correctly. There were "several"   "Name_Unavailable" listings and I thought I may have solved the problem. I did want to mention further as an addition to my explanation for what it is worth that when you mentioned to me "The program is telling you that these are not folders but are trays" they DO show the gold folder symbol and not the tray symbol.

Strange, if they are really folder though you should be able to get the folder information when you right click on the folders.  Even an IMAP or added mailbox folder should show something when you right click on them.  Not too sure what you mean about the "Gold folder symbol" though, The gold folder icon is a tray, the normal folder is a white envelope. 

Now the other possibility is that the hierarch.pm is hosed.  If you are NOT using a bunch of trays then the best open would be to close Pegasus Mail, move the hierarch.pm out of the home mail directory and re-start Pegasus Mail.  Pegasus Mail will re-create the hierarch.pm file based on the folder it finds in the home mail directory.  This will delete any tray structure you have though.

You could try to check the consistency of those folders which appear to be empty and that PM says they are not: right click on each one and choose "Check consistency"

Yes Thomas you ARE correct and it is my fault..... the gold color I spoke of was a symbol we normally see as a folder BUT it is a filing tray not a message folder. In reply to Phils suggestion...when I right click on both it doesn't show the "check consistency" OR the reindex folder options. When I do right click it just shows

1). Move selected entry   2) Expand or collapse entry  3) Open all trays & 4) Close all trays

The problem is that the hierarch.pm has folders in these trays.  Now the folders may no longer exist but in that case your deleting all of the lines ending in ",Name_Unavailable" should have deleted these.  Now it looks like there are folders no showing up in the folder listing in these trays.  What you need to do now is search the hierarch.pm for these tray names and delete all lines associated with these trays.

Here's a snippet of my hierarch.pm that shows the use of folders in trays.

0,0,"5B129C57:4D8D:FOL05F9D","276D2401:Mercury -","Mercury Daemons"
0,0,"540F4A9A:2C60:FOL07E5B","244A2399:PMail","PMail Decision Time"

The trays in this list are Mercury -, PMail and Computer.

Again, when editing this file Pegasus Mail must not be running and you really should make a backup copy if you use a lot of trays.  If you do not use a lot of trays you can just move the file out of the mail directory and Pegasus Mail will show the folders without the trays. 

FWIW, note that my folder names have something that shows what tray they as in so I could easily re-build the tray structure.  ;-)

As they are trays and not folders it is absolutely normal that the right click menu doesn't show the "check consistency" entry, this choice is only for folders, not for trays (which are only a display feature for the folders).
